Thank you Dylan!I love seeing that one, Ron, it has such perfect feathering.
Forgot to include my Lambsfoot for the day. I am in a bit of a mood for Stag so the AC is my pick for the day. I had to hastily snap a pic though as it is starting to rain again.

or Reclaimed wood from old buildings in Sheffield. It might be kinda cool to have a historic wood

Yew is good. It is becoming quite a long list!Or Yew?
I know I have seen Lignum Vitae before but I had to go and look it up. It is a very pretty wood, not flashy like Ironwood, but deep and sensible all the same.

I am active in more than a few areas of the forum here and I am engaged in work and such so sometimes it can be a bit of a task getting caught up some days. It is usually worth the effort though. The content and people in this thread are matchless.
That's for sure,Really cool pic Dylan![]()
Maybe I can even have a bit of Arthur Wright's!They still have 3-legged cutler's stools, more than 100 years old, but I wouldn't want to saw those up

Might have to be made from the barrel ends as the staves are bent![]()
That's for sure,Looking at the reclaimed wood Sheffield, there seem to be a few dealers in historic woods.
What got me thinking about using historic wood was years ago they demolished the original Jasper Park Lodge a small woodworking company made tables chairs and jewelry boxes etc. We purchased a wood bowl it ads a little something extra knowing the history.
The lignun vitae I have seen is not the nicest of grained wood. Very dense it is though. I believe it is used to make windy day bails for cricket stumps (apologies if you American chaps have no idea what I am talking about!) They are so heavy that the wind can't blow them off. I once read that Queen Elizabeth I had a set of false teeth made from it!
I carry a lambsfoot...

...because I would have wood on my steel and iron in my wood.
Wouldn't you?
Thank you Dylan. I look forward to seeing your photos. Another ethereal back deck shot of your fine AC.Your knife and fungi pictures are always pleasing, Dwight. One of my favorite pastimes is mushroom hunting but I haven't been about it in almost a year. I will have to get after it soon as spring approaches.

Perfect!I might see if I can get get hold of some reclaimed oak from one of the old Sheffield cutlery factories, there are several currently being gutted and renovated for yuppie apartments.
The muted colors are gorgeous.Forgot to include my Lambsfoot for the day. I am in a bit of a mood for Stag so the AC is my pick for the day. I had to hastily snap a pic though as it is starting to rain again.
