Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good Morning Guardians. Gone for the day, shortly. No Lambsfoot was harmed in the making of this image.:)

OUTSTANDING knife and pic. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

My second favorite state! Sam Houston was Governor there too, I believe.
Sam Houston served as the sixth governor of the great state of Tennessee. He served October 1, 1827 – April 16, 1829. :)

Thanks pal, obviously it's a very stressful endeavour, so glad everyone is pleased with them :) That's a beautiful knife too :)
Thanks Jack! Very pleased indeed! :)

A few pics from my hike today :) Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend

Wonderful photos Jack! The ironwood glows in the sunshine! :)

...
All that and more...and you got caught up!!! Well done, I'm envious.
...
Thanks, Preston, but I'm never really caught up like I used to be before this thread turned from a sleepy hamlet to a thriving metropolis!

I'm at work reading this and enjoying the pictures and also the humor. I wish I had time to quote and comment, but I don't. Just know that I'm enjoying it all.
John's description is spot on for me these days. I still read everything in the Guardians thread, but I don't write about anywhere near the percentage of all posts that I used to. I'm quite sure that, going forward, I'll probably just select one post per page to comment on as a way to pretend that I'm as committed to the Guardians as I once was. :(

...
Gary, that is an absolute stunner! Goes so well with the watch!:thumbsup:
...
Thanks, Dennis. :)

...
Most interesting GT :) I'm not sure how much weight I've lost, but my waist has gone from 40" to a 36" I'm thinking of calling my 2019 'Slippery Jack'! ;)

Thanks GT, I was in a lovely old bookshop today, and happened to mention my interest in pocket-knives. The owner immediately produced his IXL Barlow Lambsfoot, which like most of us here could, I identified before he'd even got it more than halfway out of his pocket. His wife then produced a nice old Pradel, nice people :)

Yikes! Sometimes you wonder if a 'Handle With Care' label will be viewed as an instruction or a challenge

Always a treat to see your Lam Jack :) About time we saw its namesake too! ;)
...
Losing 10% off your waist in a couple of months seems cause for celebration, Jack - well done!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Nice story about the well-equipped bookshop couple. :)
Yes, we haven't see @mrknife here for awhile, but he's a "renaissance man" when it comes to hobbies! ;):thumbsup:

Well, I was very very surprised when I got the mail it only took 3 weeks rather than the usual 8 weeks! @JohnDF I am now your neighbor. :D:p

Very nice, Dave; congrats!:cool::cool::thumbsup: When I first saw your post, my initial reaction was, "Where did Dave get a tortoise shell lambsfoot?" I've enjoyed the speculations about images hidden in the figuring of the wood of your ironwood lambsfoot. ;) FWIW, I see a witch riding the shoulders of a bear standing on his hind legs. :D

Here is a little math themed fun with 5K Qs in mind...

Thanks for the fascinating image of the analog(?) calculator with your lovely lambsfoot!:cool::cool: I don't recall ever seeing one like that before. Are the "columns" linked to their neighbors on the left, sort of like old car odometers? If so, I can imagine how addition and subtraction might be done, but multiplication and division have me stumped :( (unless they're simply done as repeated addition and repeated subtraction, respectively, which would be WAY tedious ). Here's a related link I found quite fascinating:

The double cap make this Stag Lambfoot a standout.
Thank you, sir. :)

Your pretty darn close Gary! I see a Jester riding the shoulders of a bear standing on his hind legs.:p Although it could be a Witch. :D or Carmen Miranda!:p

I keep mine in a little box with my GEC pins.
Thanks for the "treasure chest" suggestion, John. :)

I pinned it on my everyday baseball cap. ;)
Good idea, Dave, although I rotate through 14 caps over a 2-week span. But I could develop the habit of just changing the pin to a different hat each day.

I think the pin would look smashing on a derby hat.
View attachment 1082559
How about on a stocking cap instead, Vince? I have no derby, but this time of year, I usually wear the same stocking cap every day, pulled over my ball cap du jour.

...
A great question, GT. I have a growing assortment of pins that I keep in a small drawer in my knife chest but I did opt to take one of my Lambsfoot pins and put on my Alpine hat. The hat itself is quite fine and rather warm but I only will wear but a few times a year around Oktoberfest. I'm usually loathe to put pins on any clothing but apparently it has become customary to adorn your alpine hat with all sorts of metal bits...

Quite interesting idea for adorning a head covering, Dylan. I sometimes wear my stocking cap rolled up in a shape very similar to your Alpine hat. ;)

...
Where've you been GT?! ;) Hope all is well my friend, it's good to see those two :) Mine is currently pinned to one of the chest pockets of my Swanndri Ranger shirt

Morning folks, having to rush a bit, but I have Lucy on my arm today :)

Your back-up ironwood is a real looker, Jack!:cool::thumbsup: Thanks for the pin idea. :) As to where I've been, I think I'm partly stupefied by the pace of the thread, and I'm also finding winter unusually hard to deal with this year. I often sit on the couch after supper, huddled motionless under a blanket, with a dog on either side of me. But most evenings are apparently 3-dog nights, so I'm under-equipped.

...
Mine's pinned to a small satchel I sometimes use for carrying any bike kit that isn't bolted down.
...
Thanks for the suggestion, David. :) I just bought a new backpack and could find a good location for my Guardians pin there, I'd wager.

...
5K Qs 5K Qs I put pins on my desk at work.
Thanks, Joshua. I have to confess my desk at work is so messy that it would swallow up my pin quickly. :(

Doing a Dandy Double Duty Display there GT!:thumbsup: Both outstanding!
Thanks, Dennis. :)

Gary that’s two very nice Lambsfoot knives! The Ironwood has beautiful grain my friend!
...
It’s a beauty Alan! :) I’ve been sitting here admiring mine and I thought I might as well let all of you Guardians enjoy them as well! :D

Thanks, Ron. :) Both of your ironwoods are astounding, but I'm always floored by the mark side of the one on the right, where the grain looks like it's painted on with brushstrokes!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Threw my guardian in the pocket. Helped me cut up some feed bags then sat and looked pretty for me.

Positively pretty for sure, Taylor!:cool::thumbsup: Hey, what's with your signature? I've never asked about the 2 little "x" letters, but now there's a big "X" over them and I'm getting curious! ;)

...
Here's to the weekend!

Greg @WhittlinAway would probably be proud of you, Jack, and Preston!:cool: He might even advise, "Divide, and conquer!" ;)

I'm going to visit my son at college. So, no Lambsfoot for me this weekend. :(
I hope you have a safe and rewarding trip, John. :)

My folks smoked, never cared for it. BUT, in my younger, dummer, partying days, I'd smoke a Tiparillo or a Swisher Sweet.
Well, THOSE cigars are not really cigars. Try an Arturo Fuente or a Romeo & Julieta or a Macanudo.
Maybe one of these days. My lungs and system is pretty compromised after being about a mile south of the oil well fires during Desert Storm. I get choked up with just smoked brisket!:cool:
Fortunately, cigars are not inhaled into the lungs like cigarettes; you just puff on them. But I understand. And thank you, Sir.
Like Dennis, I used to smoke cheap Hav-a-Tampa Jewels, and unlike Vince, I always inhaled the smoke. Finally quit 4 years ago after abusing my lungs for 45 years.

I am like 12 pages behind, me and my lambsfoot are in the ER at the hospital I work at awaiting the removal of my appendix. Caught it early enjoy your weekend!
Procedure went fine , in room overnight will catchup later thanks for all the thoughts and prayers
Glad to hear that the appendectomy went well, and I hope you recover quickly, Jody.:thumbsup: Seems like kind of a drastic measure to take to give you time to catch up on this thread!

Morning all. These lambsfoots at becoming addictive! Spotted a bog standard A Wright rosewood one for a very good price on a UK knife purveying website so I thought I would take the chance and buy it unseen. My luck was in I got a beauty. The fit and finish is excellent, not quite GEC standard but not far off for less than a quarter of the price. I have been looking at all the ironwood pictures with a fair amount of envy but came across this thread too late to get one. So imagine my delight when the gentleman Jack Black messaged me to say he had one for me to buy. Two in a week! No pictures yet as I gave them both a polish up last night and the oil takes a good day to harden properly. So pictures to follow. Got the weekend is going well for everybody so far.
Congrats, and I hope to see your pics soon!:thumbsup::cool:

The nicest wood covered knife I've ever owned. No ifs, ands, or buts! The bottle opener and coin were gifts from Jack soon after I became active on BF.View attachment 1083401 View attachment 1083402
Congrats on the outstanding ironwood, Alan; the two-tone effect on the mark side is phenomenal!:cool::cool::thumbsup: And the pile side has its own unique charms!

Have a great weekend y'all.View attachment 1083420
Your lambsfoot with the dark pinstripe suit is so dignified, Dwight!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks guys. I don't understand why they've gotten a reputation as a down and dirty work knife and nothing else. The f&f and beauty of the two I've got are as nice as any commercially available knife around.
pjsjr pjsjr This is from the second batch.
I think we have to remember that Jack's influence on these Guardians knives results in their being more than a cut above the standard production models!:thumbsup::cool:

Great photos Jack! Man, we won't see green grass for another 2 months. :(
My thoughts exactly, Dave! ;) I spent another 45 minutes this morning deepening my bond with my snow shovel, and the most recent weather forecast predicts about 12 inches of lake effect snow in the coming week with "Polar Vortex 2".

Man Jack is my lambsfoot of record this week:

GT I know you've been to Spain  Heres Three Dog Night, singing one for you, to chase away the winter blues away.

It's going to snow here, butright now it's just looking like someone spilled salt.

Great photos, Jack, glad you had a nice hike and were able to enjoy a spot of tea and maybe something to eat.
We have green grass, it's just that you have to dig for it.View attachment 1083595
Nice photo, it's trying to snow here...I can see green grass coming up after a few days of warmer weather
Not at all, Jack. It's 1:20 pm. Was going somewhere with relatives visiting from Georgia, but I have a flat tire. Buying two tires, but waiting in a nearby pizza place (where they sell beer). Lots better than waiting in the tire store waiting room. Drinking a Texas beer of course.

Hope you don't have to wait to long, good picture.
Looks great, I think both sides are terrific, but the pile side reminds me of a quilt.

One of my all time favs for sure! I've been there also, although that was when Franco was still in power.
Here's my last musical contribution on Texas Independence day - from the great Bob Wills. This is my favorite version of this Texas Swing classic. Bob (who had suffered a stroke) was transported to the recording session in a wheel chair so he could take part in the two day session. The album (entitled "For The Last Time") was originally meant to be the last recording in which he was to take part - a tribute to his illustrious career and talent. Ironically, after recording this song on the 1st day, he suffered another stroke during the night which ended his life.
