Nice shot of your knife as well as those manicured nails![]()
Wonderful Patina
Thanks John and Dwight. Yes, Ireland has a fascinating history. I was lucky to be shown around Crossmaglen and South Armagh by a very knowledgable local.
That sounds like a great weekend spent with your biological father. I think Corlaghdergan may refer to the very old Gaelic Townlands naming convention. Many people in rural Ireland still identify with the Townland they come from, especially in the Gaeltacht and parts of Ulster. I drove through County Tyrone in 2017 but I didn’t get any pics, unfortunately.
Here’s a couple from County Donegal, the neighbouring county to the west of Tyrone:

I uncovered this old pic of my great great grandfathers traditional Chinese funeral when I was in Malaysia:

He must have been quite a character, the sort of figure described by tabloid papers as a ‘colourful identity’.
Here’s a swivel cannon he had - I guess originally from a Portuguese, Dutch or English ship:

The stack of faces reminded me of this sinister shaman-suit from the Sepik Vale culture in Papua New Guinea.

Have a great weekend folks![]()
Had to change my plans for tomorrow a bit unfortunately, but still hoping to get out for a bit of fresh air with Lucy![]()

Thanks for the pics of the Rocket, David.Any idea why that name was given? I think of "rocket" as an aerial means of transport that didn't come about until 20th century, so Rocket for a train engine struck me as way ahead of its time!
My lambsfoot this week has been Black Jack, my 2018 ebony Guardians lambsfoot:

I guess it's no secret that I like music so with that in mind, here's my attempt at bringing some of my fav's your way.
Check out how the tone arm bounces in time to the beat.
This is a Direct to disk recording!!

They are great chilies! The have a big festival, and the colors are awsome!
Yes, we / they roast them. And it's also very arid there, so you can have them on the string and let them dry out. Then you can grind them up and make a sauce out of them.
The big ebony. Man I love these ebony lambs. Jack is there a hernia repair procedure in your future?
Beautiful carving David.
Good morning (and afternoon) Guardians. Have a good one.View attachment 1095924

A little bit less nefarious than Jim's!
Thank you very much, Dwight!

Hello, Ari! Henry says hello back!

Thank you very much, Harvey!
I believe according to the bylaws and rules, a review of said munchies is mandatory!
What a handsome flock, José!![]()
Thanks, Jack.Lucy looks right at home there. She happens to be the one I picked out of the group photo, when you first posted it, to hope for!
Seriously, the best part is the smell. It smells so good that I want to just open the second one and stash it in my truck as an air freshener.
They taste awesome... and the malted texture... and wafers... they are amazing!!! Do they not sell these here in the U.S.? It's like the perfect compliment to a cup of coffee. Maybe I'll have the second one for breakfast.
It's a winner, Dave. Thanks again.

Thanks Mark, I'm surprised, I actually thought Lucy's 'wounds' might cause a few folks to complain...

lol, Thank you, David, what an absolutely haunting photo.Dave I love the little pictures and cartoons you post. I don't know where you find them but there hilarious![]()
No doubt about it, the better it gets, a little Sunshine goes a long way.The longer I look at the knife the better it gets.
Cheers Jack, but I'm about to head into work so I probably won't...![]()
Mine has one of those 'wounds' on the mark side though not as deep as those pictured above and I actually like it. It adds the the character of the wood
Hope you have a great walk![]()
A little sunshine in Manchester this morning and the first time it has been sunny with my ironwood lamb in my pocket, so I thought I would get a shot to show the grain gleaming. The longer I look at the knife the better it gets.View attachment 1097276
Jack, your AC has good reason to be proud, because he/she is sooo good looking. My Sunday choice![]()
Thanks Jack, you too. It is my wife's birthday so I have taken her out shopping. My knife fund is depleting by the minute!Sorry to hear that mate, hope it goes OK
As folk have been posting pics, I have noticed one or two more too, though not as prominent as Lucy's. As I hadn't noticed them when I had the knives in hand, or on the pics, I had wondered if they were perhaps a casualty of air travel, but of course that could not apply to youI do like them on Lucy though, and as you say, they add to the character of the wood
Fantastic Wayne, have a great Sunday![]()
haha I'm glad you like them. I discovered them years ago when I was traveling to Calgary once or twice a year. I of course brought some home (along with other Canadian candies) for the family to try. My wife, who does not drink or like coffee, absolutely loves Coffee Crisp now. They do not sell them in the US except I think maybe in towns close to the border. I no longer travel to Calgary so I "have to" special order a dozen in the fall/winter to satisfy the craving. I tried a summer order once and they arrived a mess, of course.I should have read this warning before I started eating them...
Seriously, the best part is the smell. It smells so good that I want to just open the second one and stash it in my truck as an air freshener.

It's a winner, Dave. Thanks again.
Thank you David. That is a beautiful and wintry for sure moon shot. Don't work too hard today. What a great shot! This is a moon shot I caught a mid-winter sometime.
Oh no. Love Lucy's fang marks. Thanks Mark, I'm surprised, I actually thought Lucy's 'wounds' might cause a few folks to complain..
Absolutely gorgeous grain glory.A little sunshine in Manchester this morning and the first time it has been sunny with my ironwood lamb in my pocket, so I thought I would get a shot to show the grain gleaming. The longer I look at the knife the better it gets.
