Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Have a great Sunday, Guardians!

Thanks John and Dwight. Yes, Ireland has a fascinating history. I was lucky to be shown around Crossmaglen and South Armagh by a very knowledgable local.

That sounds like a great weekend spent with your biological father. I think Corlaghdergan may refer to the very old Gaelic Townlands naming convention. Many people in rural Ireland still identify with the Townland they come from, especially in the Gaeltacht and parts of Ulster. I drove through County Tyrone in 2017 but I didn’t get any pics, unfortunately.

Here’s a couple from County Donegal, the neighbouring county to the west of Tyrone:

I uncovered this old pic of my great great grandfathers traditional Chinese funeral when I was in Malaysia:

He must have been quite a character, the sort of figure described by tabloid papers as a ‘colourful identity’.

Here’s a swivel cannon he had - I guess originally from a Portuguese, Dutch or English ship:

The stack of faces reminded me of this sinister shaman-suit from the Sepik Vale culture in Papua New Guinea.

Great pictures of Ireland you posted there. I think Ireland is where Hollywood chooses to go when they need a location for empty and mystic moorland.:)
Really interesting to see the funeral photo to; your great great grandfather must of had quite the family

That dancing girl is exquisite!

Thanks, it was a gift to my great-aunt from a Dutch sea captain, who lodged with the family in Liverpool during WWII.

Have a great weekend folks :)
Had to change my plans for tomorrow a bit unfortunately, but still hoping to get out for a bit of fresh air with Lucy :)

Good Morning Guardians

As promised here are the first pictures of my "19".
For me it's a beauty...:D:thumbsup:

Pt, good looking grain on that. And with the sunnier weather it's nice to see more pictures highlighting the grain in the ironwoods folks

Thanks for the pics of the Rocket, David.:cool::thumbsup: Any idea why that name was given? I think of "rocket" as an aerial means of transport that didn't come about until 20th century, so Rocket for a train engine struck me as way ahead of its time!

My lambsfoot this week has been Black Jack, my 2018 ebony Guardians lambsfoot:

Black Jack is looking mighty fine there
You know what, it wasn't included there but I did once read why Stephenson named it "Rocket" but now I can't remember where I read that . It was though, apparently the first land vehicle in the world to move faster than a horse. (It could make 35mph).

Not a totem, but here's the closest I could come up with

That's great! Certainly looks the part

I guess it's no secret that I like music so with that in mind, here's my attempt at bringing some of my fav's your way.
Check out how the tone arm bounces in time to the beat.
This is a Direct to disk recording!!

Ahhh...technology that doesn't take 5 minutes to start up, update, download and think about something....usually with a little blue circle going round and round and round and round and.....
Fantastic!! Thanks for posting that

They are great chilies! The have a big festival, and the colors are awsome!
Yes, we / they roast them. And it's also very arid there, so you can have them on the string and let them dry out. Then you can grind them up and make a sauce out of them.

Thanks Dennis! A chilli festival sounds awesome! I'm not a spicy food person myself but I bet something like that would cure the stonking head cold I've picked up in work.
Hope you feel better yourself!

Thank you, Jack, as is your Lucy. :D This is a support group I attend :p

Dave I love the little pictures and cartoons you post. I don't know where you find them but there hilarious :D:thumbsup:

The big ebony. Man I love these ebony lambs. Jack is there a hernia repair procedure in your future?

Beautiful carving David.

Good morning (and afternoon) Guardians. Have a good one.View attachment 1095924

What a great shot! This is a moon shot I caught a mid-winter sometime.

Lucy certainly is photogenic!:)

Thank EWE, Jack!:D

Thanks, Preston!

A little bit less nefarious than Jim's!:D

Thank you very much, Dwight!

Thanks John, I appreciate it!

Here-here!.....

......with this sort of great attitude and generosity!:)

Hello, Ari! Henry says hello back!:D

Thank you very much, Harvey!

I believe according to the bylaws and rules, a review of said munchies is mandatory!:D:thumbsup:

What a handsome flock, José!:)

Thank you Dennis :D

Thanks, Jack. Lucy looks right at home there. She happens to be the one I picked out of the group photo, when you first posted it, to hope for!

Thanks Mark, I'm surprised, I actually thought Lucy's 'wounds' might cause a few folks to complain...

The ones I really liked were the ones with black vine-like ropes of black running through brown wood, which a few members have, and I also like those two-tone covers we have seen from the second run :) I have definitely warmed to Lucy though :)

Seriously, the best part is the smell. It smells so good that I want to just open the second one and stash it in my truck as an air freshener.
They taste awesome... and the malted texture... and wafers... they are amazing!!! Do they not sell these here in the U.S.? It's like the perfect compliment to a cup of coffee. Maybe I'll have the second one for breakfast. :D
It's a winner, Dave. Thanks again.

Enticing review John, and a great pic

Have a great Sunday, Guardians!

You too Vince :)

Morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a good weekend :) Looks like a sunny day here, and I am taking my best pal and his missus and 3 kids out for Sunday lunch after a walk on Ilkley Moor. Should be a good day :) Have a great Sunday folks :)

Like Lucy, I took my AC out of the bunch because of a flaw, the point of the blade sits slightly proud. However, I had intended to put this right, but have been so busy I haven't had time, and really, it doesn't bother me :) My Sunday choice

A little sunshine in Manchester this morning and the first time it has been sunny with my ironwood lamb in my pocket, so I thought I would get a shot to show the grain gleaming. The longer I look at the knife the better it gets.IMG_20190324_102121-756x1008.jpg

Cheers Jack, but I'm about to head into work so I probably won't...:(:D

Sorry to hear that mate, hope it goes OK

Mine has one of those 'wounds' on the mark side though not as deep as those pictured above and I actually like it. It adds the the character of the wood

Hope you have a great walk

As folk have been posting pics, I have noticed one or two more too, though not as prominent as Lucy's. As I hadn't noticed them when I had the knives in hand, or on the pics, I had wondered if they were perhaps a casualty of air travel, but of course that could not apply to you :D I do like them on Lucy though, and as you say, they add to the character of the wood

Thanks Jack, you too. It is my wife's birthday so I have taken her out shopping. My knife fund is depleting by the minute!

I should have read this warning before I started eating them...

haha I'm glad you like them. I discovered them years ago when I was traveling to Calgary once or twice a year. I of course brought some home (along with other Canadian candies) for the family to try. My wife, who does not drink or like coffee, absolutely loves Coffee Crisp now. They do not sell them in the US except I think maybe in towns close to the border. I no longer travel to Calgary so I "have to" special order a dozen in the fall/winter to satisfy the craving. I tried a summer order once and they arrived a mess, of course.

What a great shot! This is a moon shot I caught a mid-winter sometime.
Thank you David. That is a beautiful and wintry for sure moon shot. Don't work too hard today.

Thanks Mark, I'm surprised, I actually thought Lucy's 'wounds' might cause a few folks to complain..
Oh no. Love Lucy's fang marks.

Absolutely gorgeous grain glory.

Headed to the grandkids down south today. Y'all have a great Sunday! Another moon shot.fullsizeoutput_140b.jpeg
