Guilty Pleasures / Odd Interests

Yes sir it does! It's a front flipper and I'm not a fan of those, because I can't ever get them to flip right. But this Snecx front flipped every time I flipped it!
Heh. Lapedog Lapedog and I are asking the same questions at the same time. Not surprised. I've learned we have a similar taste in knives. :)

If I buy this one it will also be my most expensive ever.

Ha ha! There were 3 of them on the table at Bladeshow when I got to their table. He filled out my authenticity card with #2, so I take it he only brought 4 of them here to the US. Those guys were hard to understand due to their strong Russian accent, but were real smiley and friendly. I just smiled and was friendly right back and walked away $990 poorer...:D

You hand me 1000$ and I’ll give you a friendly smile too.

I've been eyeballing this one forever it seems:
Well at least that is a good practical knife. I say get it without hesitation. Why not ! It is kind of Bomb Pop but it is interesting to look at and kind of refreshing in a summer . . . well . . . Bomb Pop sort of way. I saw a tail gate sticker on a woman’s truck the other day. I was helping her at work for quite a while and got to know her. She was actually way cool. The sticker said roughly : Everybody has a little hippy in them. Give into your inner hippy.

Or maybe it was just the first sentence. I was focused more on her than her sticker. Tough woman; ex military, marathon runner, had been through hell and back physically (a lot of body trauma).

Bryce, give into your inner Frenchman !

What knives are you interested in that might be kind of oddball products?

Well . . .
to tell the truth.
Every thing in my collection is kind of odd or non essential except these two :

and this full flat ground Ti Lite IV

Oh and I kind of NEED this.
For the pliers.

. . . ok and I would really miss this one, SAK Mini Champ on that rare occasion when only it will suffice. It can literally cut circles around the others. (it cuts curves great and has a light)
IMG_5274.jpg

And this is pretty much a necessity for dealing with my ginormous cinnamon croissants.
(ok I can get by with using a kitchen knife . . . if I have to . . . I guess.
Sorry Hold Out one. You’ll have to go with Spike. Who’d a thought the day would come when I would have to admit that . . . I’ll miss you.

Spike ? Who is Spike you ask ?
Oh that's this guy. I bought him on a complete whim. Super not me. Thick, a neck knife, "tactical". What was I thinking ? ? ? ? I dig it though. My "James Bond Knife" I call it. It makes me want to buy a Cold Steel Secret Edge. OK I wanted to buy a Secret Edge before this too. I don't need it. I can easily talk myself out of it.
. . .
. . .
Hmmmmmmm wonder what they are going for these days ? ? ?
I better wrap this up. Sorry guys there is a bit of shopping I need to do that is pretty urgent.

Bryce you suck for making me admit all this. . . . I was so happy when I got up. Now I don’t know if I can go on with my hobby . . . knowing what I know . . .

WHAT !
Where am I !

. . . oh . . . man . . . I must have been having a dream . . . a bad dream . . . I dreamt that I was loosing interest in my knife collection and getting rid of all of them except like two or three.

Hahahahaha like that would happen. Make it through life with just two or three knives. Barbaric !
Unthinkable. Not FUN !

Wheeeeeooooo . . . glad I woke up. Sleep walking I imagine. I never do that.

Oh hi Bryce !
Other blade forums people.

What’s shakin' ?
Hey . . . sorry I can't hang around I got to run an errand . . . later.

Amazing how friendly folks are when you're giving them almost a G-note...

And if I win the lottery, I will buy the lamp and pqy you to deliver it to Strategy9 in fishnets :D;)

I'm still waiting for someone to drop the Christmas story inspired small French kate knife...

GEC I'm talking to you!!! Get on it!!! (Before rough rider or timber wolf does)

Que - "but you'll poke your eye out!" Jokes...

Ha, I also bought a Cold Steel Spike on a whim (Tanto blade, extra Tactical!) and I really don't like it. Handle is too thin, blade too thick, and it longer than I like to carry. Lucky for me it had no pocket or belt attachment, so not carrying it was an easy choice.

You didn't order a custom 200$ leather shoulder rig? What happens when you get attacked by boot wearing pig carcasses that have cow skull helmets? o_O

I'd be prepared.

Anything by the Hawks. I'm not even going to qualify that. If they hadn't made the Kershaw E.T., I'd have stooped so low as to purchase the QTRMSTR version.

You could get a blunt trainer. It's what I did. Kinda alright to fidget with but (in my opinion) quickly shows why the are more toys than real EDCs. Yeah you could use them but you definitely are going to get looks
Like I said, I'm not all that interested in flipping, so I don't need a trainer. All openings and closing that I know, I can do safely with a live blade. I just think they're good knives.

You thought I was kidding.
I thought I was kidding. :( o_O :)
But look what showed up in the mail today ! :D
A Cold Steel Secret Edge. Top knife in this photo above my HoldOut III.
IMG_5283.jpg
I mean . . . I already have the HoldOut right ? What do I need with a Secret Edge ?

I'll tell you what pushed me over the edge and made me order it. The Secret Edge is thinner than the HoldOut. I'm a sucker for good knives that are thin enough they don't beg me to grind them thinner.

Done.
We'll see how I like it.
OK . . . I like it.
The top knife here is the Secret Edge.
I even ordered it knowing full well I will have to battle and probably mod that stupid SecureEx sheath that will dull the blade.
In spite of all that I ordered my guilty pleasure !
It's a sickness.

Nahhhh . . . you got to see this Spike in the proper perspective :
You are up on a roof top; several floors up.
You are being chased down by the Evil ________'s henchmen.
You've exhausted all your weapons and you are down to your trusty Cold Steel Spike.
Oh and you have a damsel with you that must not be relinquished to the harry palmed henchmen who will no doubt do unspeakable things to her before they top off their lovely day of mayhem and carnage by eating her brain.

You unlace your boot laces, use a brick to beat the spike into the cornice of the building and crawl over and hide just out of sight dangling with one hand from the boot lace which is looped around the spike and holding onto said damsel with the other hand.

Now . . . aren't you glad the Spike has a little beef to it ?
Never leave on a mission without it. ;)
