Yes Big Heart it seem blademaster speaks Yiddish as well as understands the reasons for your new forum name if honor. LT

I don't know if anyone else has seen this but the Effort has been given the
official benendiction over in Community Forum.

Because there is no individual profit motive the thread was moved to
General Blade Discussions. THE most popular area on Blade Forums.

That is were most of the overseas people go for instance. So keep this
in mind for the later chances to give. A few people have mentioned that they
will have later similar types of events so this is good news indeed.

And Delander you went Gold? Congrats on the "Bump".

Fixer27,

Thank you for all your efforts. Yes, I went Gold because of the owners & members of this Forum - that was the least I could do.

The offer of free shipping is worldwide, if anyone from beyond North America wishes to 'jump in'.

Delander and Codger PLEASE don't forget Auction=Bad Donation=Good.
Auctions are verbotten, donations are encouraged.

That is why some where asking to show receipt numbers.

And Bonn Chance Mon Ami.

I have started nothing, you have. so let us finish what has been started and
help those folks as much as we are able.

Have you checked your PM's? there are 72 hours until this effort is done.
(Wednesday) Make sure that plan "B" is ready to roll.

BTW this is what I love, a small effort to help people, everyone just helping
out of kindness, not compulsion. :D

Madcap Magician, are you a fan of Dale Brown? I haunt bookracks waiting for his next book to appear. Ever since I read "FLIGHT OF THE OLD DOG " way back last century. That is one author who knows his stuff!

Codger

Yes, of course. Where do you think my online SN comes from? I'm sure you recognize the name... :D I've read Dale Brown books since I was 11, and while I think they've gone slightly downhill in quality, I love reading them... like Brown better than Clancy, for the most part. My favorites were Hammerheads and Tin Man.

delander said:
Colour me thick, but, Madcap at first I thought you were saying if you were bumped off the list you would then donate $10 towards muscrat man's pledge.

Not quite.

delander said:
Now, (and here is why I become confused) it sounds to me that you are saying if muscrat man's pledge gets bumped (or is in danger of being bumped) you will up the ante by $10.00.

Yes, the idea being that he get a knife even if I don't.

delander said:
As it stands right now there are 2 x $30.00 pledges for a Old Timer 8OT. Since the suggested retail for this knife just when Schrade closed it's doors was almost $40.00, it's likely that these will be bumped.

Del

One of those pledges is mine, but I know next to nothing about Schrades and am not ordinarily a connoisseur of traditional folders. I have no idea how much the knife is worth. Nor did I particularly care, I gave what I had. Should I have more, I'll give it. I probably will, but I won't know until after Sept. 8th when financial aid gets disbursed.

Exactly, and that attitude is why everyone has been adding to your bid.

Madcap,

Your last post has just ensured you of a knife! I know that there are a lot of folks here that will agree with me when I say you have displayed the qualities that earns you a SCHRADE!!

Whether or not your pledge/donation qualifies for one of the knives on offer, I assure you that you will receive a Schrade at no cost to yourself. Maybe not an OldTimer 8OT or an Uncle Henry 897UH, but a genuine USA made, Schrade. Thank you!!

Del,

I thought you folks just sent us hockey players, Moosehead, and a couple of guys who rode horses... :D

Your generosity is a wonderful example for all of us. Thank you for being a driving force for this effort, and for being a valuable part of this forum.

I do look forward to meeting you in November.

Bill

Big Heart, you know I have just been watching this to see where it goes aside from whatever I may have done please be assured that when this is finished if you will just total up the knives you need and let me know everyone you feel who should get a knife just tell me and they will get a Schrade ( again from what stock I have available model may differ.) You have contributed enough and I have more than you. Just send the addresses or I can send them to you. Keep up the good work keep carrying the ball. LT PS just let me ever hear anyone say anything bad about out neighbors to the north and this old fat man will show them how to get there ass kicked. PPS watch out when you meet the woofer (Lobo), the big dog ( Larry ) says he will get you drunk if you are not careful. Hey woofer this canadian likes Glenlivet so bring your wallet.

Rich,
That's great - I'm sure that a few will emerge as "most deserving" of being a Schrade owner.
I hope that everyone who visits this forum will recognize that "Schradophiles" are truly and genuinely "good folks".
The support for this Gulf Coast Assistance has been tremendous.
Del

No offense to the rest of the BF crew, but for some reason I detect that the Schrade folks are a notch above average even for BF. And BF people are good folks, so that's saying something.

Delander, I'm only holding you to the first offer. If my pledge gets bumped, then keep your knife.

I'd like to participate in this very worthy cause. Please put me down for $100.00 to the American Red Cross. I guess I'll put it towards one of the 897UH's. My wife will put the check in Tuesday's mail. Thanks. Matt.

Thanks Matt!

I just discovered that I have made another donation to the effort. Two of my nephews, Johnny is a Sheriff's Deputy and SAR and Greg is SAR and EMT, both dedicated to community service since High School are being sent to perform "search and rescue". For thirty days. I have not, and will not tell their Mother that this is not what they will be doing for a month. These fine young men, each with toddlers at home, will be doing recovery work of a different sort for the next month. Both have rescue and LE training, but I know the risks they will be taking, and I ask that you contribute.... your prayers for them and their young families.

Codger

You can have it Wednesday when we see whether or not anyone else outpledges me.
