357 Magnum so easy to carry, but not much fun to shoot

Ohh when I was in the USA for Blade show atlanta I got to shoot one of those S&W was exactly the same but in 38 Special for the first time and after about half a box of ammo I started to feel it between the thumb and forefinger. Also shot one of those new Sigs in 9mm but was finding it awkward to aim using the sights kept hitting low left.

I usually shoot some DoubleTap Ammo 125 gr 357, and it hits hard. Fiocchi 158 gr 357 is about the same. The recoil is noticeably more stout than with a Buffalo Bore 158 gr +P .38 special, or a 135 gr +P Golden Saber in .38 special. It's a pussycat with .38 special.

But when I tried DoubleTap Ammo's 158 gr bonded JHP in 357 magnum for the first time, it was EYE OPENING! It was on a whole other level - I fired that one shot, and turned to my son wide eyed saying, "WOW!" and shaking my hand to get the feeling back. I switched to a few boxes of Barnes 140 gr solid copper HP, which is stout but manageable. That's what is loaded right now.

For some reason I decided to fire the remaining loaded 4 rounds, and another 3 before making my son try the next 2 in the cylinder. We boxed up the remaining 10 rounds and put them away. Slow fire accuracy was good, but there was no way rapid fire at faster than 1 per second would be on target.

I've never shot .357 is it similar to 38 special?
