Gun Picture Thread

If I could only have one handgun, it would be a G17.

I used to have a G17 (I've owned it twice since 1990). But, I have downsized from G17 to the slightly smaller G19 and G23. For myself the G19 is a good compromise between size and capacity, and easier for me to carry concealed. It's been utterly reliable for over a decade.

I also prefer my Gen 3 Glock grip's hand fit more than the newer ones. I did get my G19 grip custom-stippled which improved it even further, with a top of the line ZEV adjustable trigger, fitted slide/barrel, upgraded sights, and just ordered the Glock specific TLR-6 light with laser (I'm ditching the Crimson Trace laser which makes the grip worse). I do have several mags with extended base plates that give it the same capacity and grip length as the G17, plus 22, 30, and 40 round mags.

I also have a second barrel that is threaded for my AAC EVO9 suppressor. My G23 has a 9mm conversion barrel for use with my suppressor (very reliable too), and they each have an Advantage Arms .22LR conversion kit. So, up until a few months ago I might have picked my G19 as the ONE.

But I'm becoming increasingly impressed with my stock Sig P365 and my ZEV Z365 Octane version of the P365, with Wilson Combat grip, added manual safety, Lightning Strike firing pin, Sig Foxtrot light, Holosun HS407K X2 Optic, and MagGuts flush 12 round mags (or extended 14 rounders). It's easy to pocket carry in a Remora holster, even with the optic, has a decent 12-14 round capacity with MagGuts internals, and they gave the ZEV 365 a very good trigger (not as good as the top of the line ZEV Glock trigger, but smooth and no creep).

I love the 17. I was into the 45 for a while for CC purposes but find the longer slide is actually better for me than the compact slide.

A set of Handle It grips and some new sights and this one is done.

I’m with you fellas. Top one is for carry. Bottom one is beside my recliner.

Mine is the P365 XL with silver slide, Sig light, Wilson XL grip module, and Holosun optic is mine. The ZEV Z365 with gray slide, laser, and OD green "GrayGuns" XL grip is my son's. We just installed the new XL grip modules tonight. I carried the Sonora, Spyro, and DLC Padre knives today.

I also have a ZeV Z365 with Holosun optic and light, and a short Wilson Combat grip with manual safety added, and I have an OG 5 year old P365 that has a laser and manual safety added, but that's it.

The Glock keychain has a functional slide that can lock open, and a mag release with removable mag!!

We're modifying the baseplates on these 15 round mags to use them in the XL grip module on my P365X. It started with the short barrel/short grip module, but we added a Wilson Combat long XL grip and TLR-6 HL light laser combo, and manual safety. These 15 round mags are for the shorter P365 grip, and were bought before the XL was ever a released. It might be easier to just look for the shorter spacer/floorplate online.

True Precision DLC threaded Barrel and AAC EVO9 Suppressor.

Sooo, I need a lighter recoil spring for the P365X to function flawlessly with my AAC suppressor. The slide doesn't always go back quite far enough to catch the next round in the magazine and feed it, although the fired shell casings eject just fine. I tried 12 round OEM and 14 round MagGuts upgraded magazines, and it didn't make a difference. I had no issues with the threaded True Precision DLC barrel and no suppressor. I'm kinda bummed that I bought and installed new taller sights before trying out the suppressor :poop:

AAC is was out of business and resurrected, so I don't think it will be easy to find a different piston spring to try to fix the issue, since the old models are not being made anymore (only the most recent ones). And I'm not limp wristing it either. My Sig 229 Scorpion Elite functioned perfectly with and without the suppressor. So for now those two will stay paired together in the bedside safe. The problem that I was trying to solve is that my Sig 229 Scorpion + AAC suppressor, Olight, and 15 rounds in the magazine is just TOO DAM HEAVY !!

My son says that this ZEV OC9c might fix the problem (at a $600 discount)...

So I looked things up, and AAC was bought a couple years back and revived.

Remington Bought them in 2009, then they were spun off around 2020 during the Remington Bankruptcy, and rebranded from Advanced Armament Corporation to Advanced Armament Company. In 2022 JJE Capital Holdings LLC acquired them and got all the intellectual property. And, apparently Silencer Shop sells them?

Took her to the range yesterday and was very happy with how the gun shot. It’s been a while since I’ve shot a 17. Felt like home and I was easily able to make shots between 50 and 75 with the stock sights. Gonna order some new sights today.

Yeah, my cursory google check (after I posted) looked like they were open. They make pretty decent stuff, so it surprised me a bit.

Unfortunately mine are the older models without support for replacement parts like pistons/springs (for my EVO-9) or flash-hider mounts with 18 teeth (for my 5.56 version, the M4-2000). I at least was smart enough to buy a spare piston for 13.5x1L (or whatever thread pattern that is for Sig 229), as well as having 7 suppressor mounts installed on 5.56 uppers with 3 spares remaining.

Went shooting over 300 rounds through my new ZEV OC9c Compact Elite today, and at first it was malfunctioning a few times whereupon I found it full of grease. That improved over the first 100 rounds before I discovered it was the display model and the shipping grease was thick and gooey after it had sat in the display case for months. (Hence the $600 discount).

I wiped off the grease, used a few squirts of CLP from my range bag on the FCU and slide, wiped it down a little, and that fixed it. Then I switched to one of my 15 year old original Glock brand mags that failed immediately. I had to take the Glock mag apart again, clean it and lube it, and fix the spring that I'd messed up when I took it from a 15+2 baseplate to a standard baseplate. The two Magpul 15 round glock-style mags that came with my OZ9c worked great on both OZ9C Elite and on my son's as well. His is just like mine but with a copper barrel and red safety on the trigger, while mine is all blacked out.

The last 200 rounds fired though it went great - it's very flat shooting and more accurate than I am. It's as accurate as my Sig 229 Scorpion Elite, but feels better in my hand and the trigger feels more natural to me than the DA/SA trigger on the Sig 229. All shooting was done at 7 yards and 10 yards. I found I can't "lollypop" the front sight with the bullseye on top of the sight, I have to cover the bullseye with the front sight.

When we got home I broke it down and did a more thorough cleaning and lube, which I really should have done before shooting it for the first time. We're going back Saturday to finish breaking it in with another several hundred rounds, but it's probably broken in after the 1st 100 and the CLP, and there were no more failures after that first 100 rounds. I just want at least another 500 rounds thru it before I depend on it.

The OZ9c had no trouble with Magtech and Aguila 115gr FMJ practice ammo, American Gunner 124gr +P XTP, and Sig V-Crown 115gr +P carry ammo. I'll test some hotter DoubleTap 124gr +P this weekend too. I have a case of Magtech practice ammo that I thought would last me till Xmas, but I might be wrong 😁

Trying to decide what I wanna go with. I’ve run Ameriglo Hackathorns and TTI Fibers in the past. I liked both.
I usually go with Trijicon HDs, but my G43X came with Ameriglo Protector sights and I liked them enough that I didn’t change. Very similar to the HDs.
