Guns & Hinderers

The items pictured herein are worth every dime.... they are designed/ manufactured and execute an actual mechanical function.

Go on a high-end Women's shoe website and explain to me (or anyone with a functional brain) how a pair of shoes that can't even be worn in inclement weather are worth $2,995 .... that'll settle most debates in my mind (not saying any of our wives would buy shoes like that) just sayin' :)

Truth. My wife humors me pretty well, usually just get an eye roll and a sarcastic "wow, that's cool". She is most definitely not one to spend over $200 on shoes, much less $2000. For our 10th I brought up the idea of upgrading her wedding jewelry - she opted to remodel the kitchen instead ;) Several weeks ago I suggested her and I get into 3-gun shooting, her words: "only if I get my own AR"... (well, and "if it's not a$$-biting cold out")..

Haha! Rubi I about busted out laughing when I saw that picture. Brings back some "odd" memories...lol

Forgive me if this is a silly question, but what's the knife with the G23? Love it...

^ if its the pic I'm thinking it is it looks like a Hinderer XM18 (3in) slicer flipper. :)

Someone needs to trade me a Hinderer so my gun can actually be in this thread legally.....

Sweet, good work w/ the Cooper and congrats on your first XM!! If you're willing, I'd be interested in your handload recipe (assuming I can ever find powder)! Here's mine, also .204:

I much prefer a nice satin-finished walnut stock to this one (it's the "Phoenix" synthetic w/ the red speckle paint..), but this one was a textbook impulse buy. One evening, I ran out to Sports Authority for new running shoes and on a whim went next door to Sportsman's Warehouse. Got home w/ a new pair of shoes and a $1200 rifle...wife was not amused. I've never gotten around to shooting it, mostly because I haven't invested in a scope worthy of it..

I just set up my reloader during my last couple of off days and working up some loads might give me the excuse to get this one out to the range finally.. I had been trying to sell it a while back (to fund more Hinderers of course), might just hang onto it and turn it into a project gun..

Oh, and I thought the red frag scale seemed to fit w/ the red speckle so on it went ;) As an aside, it never ceases to amaze me how good just about ANY configuration of scale/standoff/pivot/screw/blade finish/ano for the XM looks. These things are just cool.

Shane I never knew you had a WF spearpoint hiding away... That thing is sweet man!!! Love that red frag scale on it for sure :)

^^ Stuff that's meant to be used.. (well, hopefully not too often irt the 1911 unless we're talking range time :o )

Actually I've been putting in a little range time lately! I really shoot far too rarely for someone who likes guns and can shoot both pistols and rifles at home in my backyard. I, truthfully, had never fired an AR till a few weeks ago. Practice was one of those things I was always going to do or should do, so I finally stopped thinking about doing it at got to practicing- at least with the 1911 and AR.

Those two are what I typically haul out to the range unless I'm getting ready for a hunt. Like you, and probably just about everyone, I don't shoot nearly as much as I'd like to..

I think I'll call it my belated New Year's resolution to shoot more. Now I want to build my own AR (as I silently prepare to never again have money in my wallet, bank account, or make extra student loan repayments).

Every time I decide I'm going to shoot, I check the prices of ammo and ..... go read a book instead.

I used to really enjoy firing 200-300 rds. at todays prices - not so much.

^^^ Yup - I finally got around to setting up the Dillon and was able to find powder and components for my .45 and .223.

My, how times have changed - once upon a time I vowed to never reload 9mm or .223 because it was so inexpensive that it wasn't worth the a$$-pain of reloading the little-bitty cases. Especially the .223s, 9s aren't as annoying but 6-9 years ago they were still cheaper to buy off the shelf..

Very true. I also frequently complain about how expensive books are though. They constitute by far the biggest portion of my fun budget. I've taken to rereading some of my books every now and then. On the the hand, I'm happy with my library and if I had all of my missing books back it would be all the more impressive.

I hear you guys with the ammo shortage. We crank out millions of 223/9mm/22 and there's just none available. Not even for us! When we put in employee orders, we can only "maybe" get the leftovers of whatever orders we've filled. Wish we could get what we order all the time, but these record-breaking ammo sales — of all time — are just too great. Gotta keep everyone happy!

I have to wonder who they ^^^ are. Whenever I ask about the shortage of loaded ammo, powder, primers, etc I keep getting told that "people" are hoarding it. Well, I'm not sure how to hoard something I can rarely find to begin with...

It makes me sick to think of the thousands of rounds I gave away to friends before my PCS to Hawaii where it was way too much a$$-pain to ship there and then possess. It was assorted calibers (notably .308 and .40 S&W) but the 6-9K .22lr rounds I gave away because "ah, it's cheap and plentiful" annoys me the most. I'm at least glad I held onto my .45 ACP and .223 along with my bigger bore hunting stuff..
