Guns & Hinderers

Agree that some may not "need" a RMR but it is more than just a name. Trijicon gear is good quality. There are mixed reviews on the Burris easily found w/ a quick Web search. Even some info comparing these two little devices side by side.

I was thinking about having it custom fit if I can find a gunsmith who wouldn't charge me a small fortune for the work. I'm not really as well versed in the pros and cons of each option as a should be. Unfortunately, I'm not nearly as experienced in handguns as I should be and most of the guys I shoot with are 1911 purists. Nothing wrong with that platform and I love mine, but I'm really wanting to play the customize game on my glock since I've seen some killer ones on IG and youtube.

Trijicon gear is excellent quality, I'm wasn't saying it was bad in any way. I was saying that Burris (as far as the mini red dot is concerned), is just as good. This isn't from magazines that I have read, or someone's opinion. This is from being the guy that installs them and is friends with many others that do the same, and seeing what comes back, and what doesn't. I was just simply trying to put out an unbiased opinion that can save you some cash. That was all.

Right on! Experienced opinion is the kind I like to give the most credibility. The price point on the RMR should slow many down a bit but knowing it's a nice piece of gear eases things a bit.

It all boils down to how you plan to use it and what you like plus what an individual considers worthy of their assets.

The Burris might be fine for many but certainly not all.

Great pictures and I totally understand where you come from. Even with the suggestion of another herd member, I could never bring myself to buy anything without doing my own due diligence (so if I don't like something it is always my fault). It is certainly appreciated though to have input and an educated suggestion that might save me a little cash in the process!

I also think it should be said that needing to buy "another" because one failed at some point adds to the costs. So, does one buy the higher ticked item that's less likely to have an issue or buy the lower priced item and hope for the best? Rhetorical!

Guys I'm not trying to be an ass...full disclosure I've consumed a couple adult beverages this evening. But I don't think I've posted anything here too out of line. If I've offended, apologies.

Of course! Honestly half the fun of getting into pistol shoot for me is that I can obsess over researching my choices like I did my knives before I found Hinderer. In terms of RMRs, I'll also have to test their visual pictures out. I had sort of a half botched eye surgery as a kid that messes with my off eye and can lead to weird visual pictures in some cases with red dots. I really like and have had good luck with eotech, but some other brands have a very blurry and unreliable picture for me. I'm in no rush to make any changes (other than sights- I do dislike the sights on my g19), and hopefully I can find some good additions for it.

and it's ok N2K, I was just thinking I should quit posting since my first bottle of wine is gone and I've moved on to stronger stuff. Most of us here tend to consume a bit (and in full disclosure my guns have been put away and secured after cleaning).

Also, cheers buddy!

Same to you.

And a pleasant evening / early morning (whatever) to all.

As for the little red dots...take your time and find what works best for your needs...we'll be here to read your review.

Cheers! lol

No hurt feelings here. The choice of gear is definitely one of taste (who's name do you want), and cost (what do you want to spend for the quality). In the argument of the Burris and the Trijicon in the realm of mini red dots, is like arguing the Nissan Skyline vs a Lamborghini. They do the same basic thing just as well, with each having a couple advantages... Now, one costs more, but has the prestige that the other does not, and is for arguments sake, just cooler..... Would everyone take the Lambo, hell ya, but if you don't have the a bunch of cash to drop, the Skyline will do just fine.

If one cannot get enough info or make a decision without purchasing first....then maybe the Burris is a good place to start. Can sell it at a slight loss and get into something else, etc.

Do you have RMRs come to you for repair or hear a lot of "insider talk" about issues with them?

Customers talk, a lot... When you put a sight, or any other part on a firearm for someone, you always hear about it when it goes down. Even if it was operator error, the shit talking never stops. To be honest, I haven't heard anything "personally" bad about the Burris, or the Trijicon of any used yet. I've had a friend have to send back a Delta Point for a guy, but that's it. Oh, and just stay away from crap like NC Star, and Sight Mark.

So there it is for all the onlookers (hello "guests") to see...we've come full circle on this topic...back to it's an individual's choice with the heads up that the Trijicon is the pricier choice, but may (when the dust settles) prove to be the better choice. And similar "better" choice for some may be the Burris.

The other brands you mentioned are not contenders as you stated. But that doesn't mean there's not a product out there or soon to be out there that might offer even more choice.

lol When the dust settles, the Burris may prove to be the better choice too.... time shall tell. However, as equals so far, would you want to spend the cash to say you had a Trijicon, or buy two Burris's and put a second one on another gun for the same price?

All in all, if I was offered a choice of a Fastfire III, or one of the different RMR's for free*, I would pick the adjustable LED Trijicon with the 3.25 dot.

All this talk makes me want to blast some zombies!!!

Lots of good talk here about sights... Thanks for the insight :D
