Guns & Hinderers

Thanks for the tip with the gold dots! I really liked the 19, 17, 22, and 41 when I was checking them all out. The 19 is small enough to be concealable and still big enough that it's fun to shoot and play with. This is my first glock but definitely not my last- sort of like XMs really :D

Two things you might want when hunting the biggest, baddest animals on the planet. Ones that could easily kill you.

Love this one. The CDP Kimbers are very nice if you haven't handled one before.

I really loved the look of the rosewood handles but the hogue fill the hand better.

mmssey, I agree with ya bro!! That's what I want with me out in the woods, no doubt about it

Brain, that's a great pic buddy! Love the Kimber! Never tried the CDP....

Mmassey338 while hunting the biggest baddest animals on the planet, ones that could easily kill you? I don't know if you are a vet or LEO, my biggest worries were the two legged varieties who actually met harm and were actually carrying firearms. I lost interest in killing animals other than for food after ten years on a busy SWAT team, not much excitement shooting animals after going through re enforced metal doors for bad guys on the other side. Several of my team members went on to contract work for the government in the sand box, unfortunately some never came home.

Funny thing I never feel safer and more at ease than when I'm in the woods, even with black bears. Now Grizzly Bears I think would hunt you for sport and if hungry enough make a snack out of you. In that case a large calibre gun like you have would be re assuring. I usually opt for my XM 24 on those type of outings with a Randall 14 as company.

I'm neither vet nor leo. I own a bunch of rental property in areas most sane people avoid, and carry a .45 every day, but there's something exciting about being out in the bush and knowing you're not the top of the food chain. I carry my knife as a tool, not a weapon. If the .45 doesn't do the job, what chance do I have with a knife?

The .45 is a tool also. I agree there is something cool when out in the wild knowing threats are in your surroundings. But very much agree with Final in that Man can be the concern on most days.

Yes, man is my concern day in and day out, which makes it all the nicer to get away.

Just starting to research getting a handgun. I had a Beretta 92fs but I traded it for a shotgun several years back. In essence, I am thinking of this as my "first" since I bought the Beretta on a whim. Looking at this thread, a glock 19 is on the top of the list to check out. I am looking for 9mm. Any other suggestions to add to the list? I trust you guys...

meluck, always a pleasure looking at your pics. Great choice with the blue hardware as well!

The Beretta 92d was my first pistol, still have it and it shoots great, the trigger is really smooth but long of course. I have Glocks, Kahrs, S&W M&P, Berreta and Ruger and have shot a number of others (still need to spend some more time with HK). Anyway, I believe everyone should own a Glock 19 based on cost, reliability, ease of shooting and (despite what you might hear), they really work well right out of box without any modifications and feel even better once you put a few thousand rounds through them.

Thanks RDA. Comments like that keep the 19 at the top of my list. I handled a couple of them today at cabelas and the gen 4 seemed comfortable.

Was my first one too and I also still have it. Bought it because I was familiar with it due to USAF small arms training. I've since evolved (?) into a big 1911 fan. I've never been into Glocks (never seemed to like how they felt in hand), but have always heard good things..

If possible, I'd recommend finding a range (or a gun nut friend, I'd volunteer but it's kind of a hike to AK) that has a variety for rent and try out several - different calibers and configurations if possible..

THAT.....is a gorgeous combo, sir.......well done Mr. Juice !!!

(Can't get over how awesome that XM is......)
