Dude, i wasn't "dissing" the Gunting. It is a good weapon that does what it is supposed to. I was just pointing out that it isn't necessarily the RIGHT weapon sometimes, and that making the Gunting required carry by SOP is a slightly ridiculus fantasy. But hey, if Bram can pull it off, I will eat my words.

Definately true! I think a lot of the ugliness of this thread has been inspired by Bram's passion (not a bad thing!) and abrasive online manner, which i am sure he does not have in person. Some of my responses could definately have been better phrased.

Well, it just seems a bit odd to post a picture of "your" behind on a thread discussing knives. If a guy did it, I would be just as freaked out. I'm not sure where you are pulling this marrying stuff from, or telling me that my behavior is motivated by repressed attraction. None of that crap came from me. That's just insulting, really.

I think Simona was the one being rude( not mention being a liar), I do not have a fascination with tomb raider type girls (:yawn: so boring!), and I have a serious girfriend already. The thread, now in W&C, had a few interesting twists, but I won't elaborate as this is not the right place, and it is beating a dead horse.

The Gunting is very good, that's that. To me that is. I find it hard to carry. Because of that, I don't carry it. To find it good you must be convinced of the theory of the potential of escalating force. As a former LEO and serviceman, I was not enamoured with the Gunting concept for sometime, until I realized, it is part of the truth of using edged weapons within certain limitations.

I have never met Bram, but if I go to Florida, I'll visit him, or take a class. If any of my kids go to the US, I'll send them to him to learn about blade usage.

Hey Sia, don't worry, the people that attack u are just frustrated that they live in the middle of nowhere (like euh...Alaska) where all women are either inbred relatives, cheap trailertrash, or have big beards and mustaches and play a banjo near the river. U don't have to explain why u are what u are, be proud of yourself and rise above their low trailertrash level. They are just envious about the way u look and because instead of making beautiful photos their only contribution to this forum is in W&C harrasing other people , picking on other people, get drunk, etc.

The only thing u did "wrong" was making jokes about the USA. People are very patriotic in the USA, and that's ok. I just hope that they realise that most of the inhabitants in the USA are decendants from European people, French , Dutch, British people. All that happened is that u made a "bad" joke and now u can't do anything good in some peoples eyes. They should realise that the world does NOT only revolve around the USA, that there are other people and cultures out there that have the same reason of excistence, and that they should learn too see everything in perspective. They should realise that your people also lost a lot of people in their fight against communism in the uprising "the Prague spring" and what people like Jan Palach did for their country.

If u give them attention they got what they want, another few hours less boredom in the middle of nowhere.

No one was offended because Simona posted a picture of a naked rear. People were pissed because she seemed to be posting it for attention, claiming that it was when in fact the picture was taken from a softcore porn site, and the woman who owns it (the rear, not the site) is named Ada and lives in Chicago. Simona may be a wonderful person, but the particular bashing she recently received was not random or personal.

Will P, I have no intent to offend you or anyone else in this thread. Everyone has the right to their opinion, if they express it honestly without malice, I see nothing wrong with that. If you don't like Bram or his G system, it's fine with me.

However, there are some forumites who just want to diss whoever puts himself out as a teacher......that's human nature.

Did I say that you were set on insulting Simona? Sorry, I didn't read this thread in detail enough to see who was insulting whom.

Simona said some forumites were harassing her, so I just gave her my opinion of what was motivating them.

Sorry, I only came to know about that thread with the behind pic in it when I read this thread here.

I only started to surf the net about 5 years ago, when my first was born and I had to stay up all night to take care of him. So I sat at the computer, and I learnt that there are all sorts of funny people who want to scold you and argue with you for no good reason in these internet forums.

If you are an attractive girl, with pics in the threads, then you are going to get even more people wanting to scold you and argue with you, because a lot of maladjusted young(and old men) men will want to get your attention. The thinking is, if I can't date you, then I'll scold you, so at least you know I am here.

So just scold them back and don't bother too much about it.

Anyway, soon I will also post my backside in this thread.

After all the discussions about the Gunting I had to have one it just arrived and the knife is a pretty impressive piece of hardware I've also ordered a sheath from Vess Leather Works so now I need to get some training on it's use.

I notice in the initial post Bram made reference to written and DVD version of his training but I can't find any info on the web site about written training only the DVD. Is that the only way to go?
 
Good idea to get the sheath right up front, frogfish. I have one of Vess' sheaths and it is not only a good value, but almost indispensable for the Gunting.

The material that Bram teaches really has to be seen in action (true for most SD training!), which may be why there is an emphasis on DVDs and live training, rather than printed material with still photos. I would recommend the first tape (don't know if there's a DVD) - "Spyderco Presents the Gunting" - to help you decide if the "official" training is for you.
