Gunting modified (Suspect Gunting!)

“I’m going to gunt you. I’m going to gunt you good. I’m going to gunt you so good you’ll wish I hadn’t gunted you.” That’s what I mutter as I cut open a circuit pack box. I enjoy my Gunting. I don’t use it for the intended tactical purpose. I use it as a utility knife. I like the looks I get at work. Most people ask, “WTF is that?” I wouldn’t dream of changing any part of this knife. I would like to read a book or an article explaining all of the design features. I want to know why it is exactly as it is. I guess modifying it is OK, but I wouldn’t do it. I’d just buy something else and keep the Gunting in it’s unique form.

Edited to add: That's enough beer for tonight!

Hi Martin, glad to meet you again. If you want, I can send you a bigger file for the Museum ;) Or maybe someone will make it for real now that I have Bran's blessing :D

Thanks. Meanwhile, here's some eye candy:

It's real stuff, made by Stefan Steigerwald from Germany. A beauty, IMHO :) Not mine, unfortunately :(

Hi Dialex,

you are always welcome... yes send me a bigger one and all the other Guntings you had made I will see were I can find a place in the Museum

Martin

PS: Your work is great

BTTT in response to a new thread on this subject. I do not advocate this modification.

Neither do I. Having your Gunting "Wave" open when drawing sounds to me like a very quick way to slice your leg or your hand. I can only recommend that those who change their Guntings to "tip up" carry should keep the pivot screw fairly snug so as to keep enough resistance in the opening of the blade to maintain control of it.

i recomend ANYONE who carries a gunt keep the pivot tite, they will open up on ya tip up or tip down irregardless, it is really more at home in a sheath of 1 sort or another.

while i myself wouldnt change/alter a gunt, if ya did i dont see why it would be anymore apt to cut ya than any other knife thats waved,
