Haebbie in the wild west

Another short time with WiFi. Thank you, guys, for jour hints. Let's see who likes my wife and me as their guests.

I'm not able to get internet running. Also not with AT&T. But now it is too late. Last holiday tomorrow around post falls, and back to good old Germany on Saturday.

Some more pictures.

Breakfast a la Mt. Baker, a nice valley 6000 feet high. Close to Mt. Rainer. You see we are on the travel back.

I see your problem. You don’t have knife that can spread peanut butter.

Back in Spokane.
Donated tent, sleeping bags and other camping stuff to a thrift store at post falls and went downtown Spokane for a pizza and a view to the falls. Last night in motel. Tomorrow in the afternoon our plane will take off, first to Portland, then to Frankfurt, then to Berlin. Picked up my box with the treasures at Buck Knives today. It stood there as I left it three weeks ago. Once more say good bye. It was a great adventure, guys, my wife an I are impressed about America, the beautiful country, the kind people. We both enjoyed the time here a lot.
At least: see you again in five years, guys.

P. S.: I got to know the glacier park burns. I am so glad to see it before the fire. I hope the damages are not as large as they could be.

Have a great trip back. That's a hard flight. I don't know what they did before onboard movies. I can't read with all the airplane commotion.

Thank you, 300. Carina and I had a great time in America. I think she fell in love with this wonderful country. At least we made roundabout 4000 miles.

She thinks to come with me to the next BCCI meeting ----

Upps, boarding starts now, mail more later.

Thank you for taking all of us on your trip Herbert. Wishing Carina and you a safe trip home! See you in 5 years, first beer is on me.

JB
Thanks, John, so bad that it is not allowed to bring some beer from Germany to the USA. I would bring some Oktoberfest beer with me. The first one would be yours.

Tbc: I think Carina fell in love with America. We saw at least five national parks and some national forests and the National Monument craters of the moon and mt. Baker. The only day with rain we had in the rain forest of Olympic Park. And we put our feet into the Pacific Ocean. We had bed & breakfast in Jon's house (without h) near mt. Rainier spent a few nights in a motel but mostly we slept in a tent. This time we got an impression about the northwest American nature. Next time we will have a look may be at the history. First step into this direction we made with visiting the Oregon trail museum in Baker City. Guys, it was great. We saw a different sides of the country but we never had the feeling to be a foreigner in a strange country. I got the feeling everybody likes to give us the feeling to be at home, especially these crazy knife nuts of Buck collectors even if they are members of the BCCI or not.

Haebbie,

You will probably see mountain goats in the Olympics. They are very likeable beasts but they are not native to the Olympics, and they do a lot of damage to the native vegetation. The National Park Service has a plan to get rid of them, so enjoy them while you can.

Bert
Didn't see the Mountain goats, but read about the probs they make.

I checked the weather forecast for Jackson Hole and it should be clear for you, except for smoke from fires in California, Oregon, etc. Sometimes people never get to see the Tetons because of clouds. Jackson has changed a lot since I spent time there during my climbing days 50 years ago. It used to be a quiet, sleepy town with ranch people, ski bums and mountain climbers. Now it is different. Have a good time.

Bert
Jackson is a strange town. Something for the upper class? The pizza was good but not quite cheap. :) :)

Guys, for the unbelievable good travel through the northwest of the USA I bought and signed an annual pass for the national parks and federal recreation sites. But a second person can sign and use the pass as a second passholder. I would like to give the pass to somebody who likes to be the second passholder. First of you who likes the pass and is showing us his mostly liked buck knife will get the plastic card for his pleasure.
Ok, ready, steady, go!!
