I was going to go with the ZT 0350, but it has a recurve blade. The price point is perfect for me, so I'm hoping I can get an idea for a similar knife with a high-quality steel, 3.5 inch blade, and similar looks.

Do a search on your thread title.....we just the same thread a couple weeks ago..........................

You could wait for the 0550 to come out, or find a 551 if you can. Hinderer designed Manual ZT folder without recurve. Looks like a damn fine knife...I'm waiting for the 0550 myself.

I could grind out the recurve.

I did a search. It's only a few threads before you start reading about stuff that isn't even in production anymore and the date is 2002. So I was trying to see if there was anything that wasn't mentioned in the newer threads.

Thanks for the heads up on the 0550, Dorito. I will look into it.

The 0550 looks to be perfect for me:

A recurve doesn't have to be that hard to sharpen if you have a spyderco sharpmaker or ceramic rods. You can also use the edges of a flat stone.

As already mentioned, the ZT 0550/0551 is going to be your best bet. The Strider SnG would also be a good choice, although it does cost significantly more than the ZT options.

For the money a cold steel recon 1 tanto, rock solid lock, lighter than some of the other offerings, that said, there is nothing wrong with the other mentioned knives. If you can, go to a local knife store and handle a few before you buy.

Spyderco Military or Para2.. ones a little bigger.. one's a bit smaller.

Not to ruffle your feathers but the tips on these 2 knives are not strong, and this fact eliminates them from hard use knife territory.
To be fair they are not bad for what they are.

i would add another tally for the ZT550/551. The kabar mule isnt bad either. although not on par with the ZT. There are also the Hogue Extreme line which look very promising i just dont have one yet

I like the cold steel American lawman with TriAd lock. Today I needed some wooden wedges at work so I hammered mine through a 2x4 with a 4lb hammer :D Worked great, no blade play the lock didn't stick or anything.

There was a NIB ZT 0551 on the exchange yesterday. You might check there. $220 (cost + shipping). They come up about once a week.. I bought one when they came out and they're HEAVY DUTY. Blade's bigger than an XM-18 (top to bottom and sharpened edge).
