Hard use tactical folder

I have batoned my Cold Steel American Lawman with a 4lb hammer. Would anyone care to do that with one of these fancy Ti Frame lock knives?

I wouldn't do that to my Junglas either, because it it unnecessary, and I don't like pointless dents in my knives.
I've batonned the Junglas through a 7 inch diameter log using a rather huge baton, but a hammer? Hell no.:thumbdn:
I've batonned my Skirmish a bit, but not through huge quantities of wood, and certainly not with rocks or hammers...what's the point? What does it prove?

I was at work so all I had was my Lawman and a hammer. I needed some wooden wedges to put under a 10 ton jack I was using to push a dent out of the hull of a 330 ft commercial fishing boat I was doing a repair on. And since I'm a welder and ship fitter I don't have wood working tools in my job box and the job was a bid job so I didn't have the time to waste searching for the "right" tool. What I had worked and I didn't damage my knife at all.

That's real world.........cool. I love the TriAd lock. I've never had to go hard on my Rajah but it's reassuring to know that it's built tough.

It proves a 4lb. hammer can be successfully used with an American Lawman.

just because you can't forsee this use and or plan to operate in this manner does not make it invalid to this discussion or any less of a dynamic solution to a problem in the field.

And btw? There are no pointless dents in knives. They serve a purpose, whether it be getting a nasty job done or educating the user as to just exactly what his knife could or could not take [and a lasting educational data point at that], at least if he has his wits about him.

All this talk about hard use and it has to be able to hadle this and that, wonder what our grandparents 'hard used' their slipjoints for?

Lovely! It looks perfect for me as well :D

Yes the 551 does look good, but remeber about "defensive" purpose you r using it for, if your attacker has a bigger knife then u have to get in closer unlike him, he can keep his distance and wait for u to strike... honestly if i were going into combat. (CQC).. i'd take 2 tactical knives... y u mite ask? one, would be big and have a long blade (around 5in)... serrations so the enemies wounds would be hard to sow up... + serrations keep their edge longer esspecially if u dont have the means to sharpen them were u r stationed... my other choice would be a smaller (around 3-3.5in) tactical blade.. such as a BM 3550 or BM 2550
Reason being for this 1, well lets say your on a stealth mission, and for instance there is a guy on a watchtower or at a door with his back to you and u cant use a gun/suppressor (to loud).. in my opinion executing the job with a 5in blade would feel un natural.. especially if u r trying to do it as quickly as possible without him knowing.. a 3in blade is so much more esaly minipulated...

just my 2 cents...

You would choose a 5" fixed blade for cqc or a 5" folder? I agree if it was a folder but if not I would much rather have something larger.

Guys on watchtowers - backs to the walls - neutralizing them (Guys on watchtowers - backs to the walls) without suppressed firearms, single or double bladed assassination with or without folding serrated knives of varying lengths??

Didn't your Mom's tell you not to drink too much Benadryl or prescription cough syrup?
