Hard use tactical folder

Spyderco Manix 2!! Super, super strong lock. Good steel (154cm), good handle materials. AMAZING ergonomics. And it's only $70.

The 350 is an outstanding blade. Really there are so many out there, any ZT will be good, I EDC a 200, or Extrema Ratio RAO. I also have used a Gerber Parabellum, Firestorm, Gator Serrator, and numerous others. I think it more depends on your budget. You can find really good EDC at just about any price range. I have brand loyalty, I tend to like Gerbers and Kershaws, but that doesn't stop me from looking at others. I really like the 350, for what you get, vs. price, it's a great deal.

Dollar for dollar, I would say the ZT0551 is probably the best value 'hard use' knife on the market today. Whatever you interpret hard use to mean. But that's a whole other kettle of fish. :p

Not to ruffle your feathers but the tips on these 2 knives are not strong, and this fact eliminates them from hard use knife territory.
To be fair they are not bad for what they are.

No feathers ruffled.. Hard use is pretty subjective. I think when most ask for a hard use knife they never use it hard or even remotley hard. They cut zip-ties, boxes, sand bags etc. Knives, much less folders, are not a substitue for a pry bar. I've never broke a knife.. so maybe I'm not using them correctly... errr.. incorrectly. There is a proper tool for each job.

Did the Sebenza win yet?.......he he! Extreme Ratio RAO is IMO the best hard use folder if hard use means batoning, wacking, rock breaking, prying... but you pay for that in weight. I do hard cutting chores and use a better tool for other things.

No kidding. IMO there's no such thing as a hard use folder. If you need a knife to do crazy things get a fixed blade or better yet a pocket widgy.http://www.countycomm.com/widgy.htm

I'd recommend the Cold Steel Spartan.

Word.

So there's no such thing as a "hard use tactical" folder? What about "battle-ready" folders?

knife designations are mostly for sales purposes so there is not much point in debating among those 'in the know' -is there?

Spydercos are awesome knives but they do NOT belong to what I call hard use due to thin tip.

There is no denying the fact that the tips are thin on Spydercos. That's that.
