Harpy XL!!! Who's with me????

Blue or second choice gray for the colour, will they be available on order from SFO, or will a limited number go out to dealers? I want one bad.

I'd say olive green G10 or zytel.

As soon as you can, bring out plain edge.

Whatever color you end up with, don't pick subdued gray like in the Navigator. Colored plastics or bright metal of the original Harpy are fine, but like Zardoz said, the metal one needs some modification in order to have a good grip.

Sal,

When you say "Endura" handle, do you mean zytel with the barrel bolt clip mount?

Oh, and Blue like the Delica's would be my choice for color.

Jeff/1911.

yes. when I say Endura handle, I mean the current FRN hande used on our current Endura. The one with the L/R barrel clip. This will permit us to check out the market. There are many companies now making "pointy" hawkbills. There were none when we introduced our Harpy in the mid eighties.

I know that you used white on the early Rescue models and it wasn't successful.

Spyderco has made "yellow" Catcherman models in the past. Good for whitewater rafting, but probably not so good for other uses. Seems like the blue would be a good middle of the road choice.

I would personally see Grey as the best choice, but it might be too light in color value for the male of our species, that tends to prefer darker colors in their tools.

A shallower blade profile, like the Emerson P-Sark or the Microtech Kestrel would also be another preference. A hawkbill leaning toward the wharncliff shape seems to me to be an ideal multi-purpose shape.

The blade shape was penned by Bruce Wentzel of South Africa. Our South African Distributor is the main customer and impetus for this model.

How about 2 colors or is that difficult with your molding tech, say black yellow or grey and black
of course I would like to see this become a standard model, I like to USE my toys!
Cool

Mike:p

Sal,

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I suppose it should have been obvious what you meant the first time.

Jeff.

navy blue and a black blade would be pretty, but probably out of the question.

barring that, navy blue or dark grey would be nice as well. i've got nothing against good old black, though.

thanks!

Just want to say thank you, Sal. I find it difficult to imagine another operation which rivals the Spyderco habit for innovation and response to it's customers.

This, and the products, keep me around.

Brian

I would buy 10 Spyder Edged ones and 10 Plain Edged ones.

:D

The size of a Millie!

:D

Stainless steel or G-10 handles!

IT'S ALL GOOD :D

I plan on buying several of the SpyderHawks as spares and gifts for some co-workers who have "Seen the light" and have so far been content carrying Harpys and Merlins... They'll really like the full-sized 'Hawk complete with all the Spyderco functionality.

i dont know about you but.. im kinda tired of FRN .its nice but , spyderco's got a good bit of FRN knives out. they need colored G10! id love a Big Green G10 Harpy. :D

I would like blue or dark grey. Hey Sal, now that there might be a large Harpy, how about getting that sprint run of Dragonfly's on the road?!:p :p
Thanks,
Matt:D

Please, Sal, no FRN - unless, of course, you also go with Pachuck's infamous double liners. :D

Textured G10 or CF would be great with a compression lock and a single liner; you can also get G10 or a similar GRE in a range of colors. Let's keep the SpyderHawk design functional, strong AND reliable.

See, I've never had ANY problems with a zytel handled knife and although I can understand where POTENTIAL problems could come from, I've yet to see them. Keep it zytel, the Endura is plenty stout enough, why can't the SpyderHawk be the same? BTW, how about a sprint run of almite Crickets?!??;) ;) :D :D :D
