Has William Johnson fulfilled his obligations?

Hello John,

Was a bit surprised that this thread came up again.

At any rate, yep, February. He emailed me last Jan 28 (had been emailing me every week before that though) and told me that the paperwork was already sent back to the customs office, and he's now just waiting for the check to arrive.

As to how long that would take, I really have no clue. But I think William is really going all out to fix this problem. I'm still waiting. I guess there's nothing else to do at this stage.

Just keep in mind that there is only one US Postal claims office in the entire US of A! They' re in St. Louis.

Hmmm... As of today, still no check.

I was informed that check was "en route" to me on March 7th, from the claims office.

I followed up with an email on March 22 and he was told by claims office that check was sent on March 17th (which is which?!)

I tried asking Shane what address it was being sent to. I never got a response.

Is the claims office screwing around with us? I don't know anymore. I feel that Shane seems to be trying to get this over with, and move on. But the two conflicting dates when the check was "supposedly" sent, gets me confused.

So, Shane, I hope you're reading this (you told me you still read the threads here), as I can't seem to get any response from my emails again, and I'm hoping this will get your attention... Please, contact me asap. I believe we're about to celebrate our 1st year anniversary.

Email me once you get this.

It's been 20 days since March 17th. Snail mail doesn't take that long to reach me. The worse being 2 weeks.

Dan

Dan, I'm very sorry to see that this ugly matter still hasn't been honorably settled. IMO, if you don't get an immediate satisfactory answer & PROOF that this thing is really hung up in some bureaucratic machine, it's time to go to his CO & the postal inspectors with your story. Best of luck in getting this resolved.

Brian,

I'm giving him some time to reply to my email. If I don't get any responses again, then I can honestly say that I've exhausted all normal means, and will go for the last resort.

Dan

Danny...stop being a nice guy and put the screws to this jerk through military channels. Enough is enough.

Jake

Jake, I know. I only believe in giving others the benefit of the doubt first, before going through more drastic measures. So far, I've been so patient with Mr. Johnson, and this is what I get. I told him the check could be diverted to a local address which I can provide, but he insisted that it be shipped here instead, so there would be no delays... or should I say, it would be harder to prove? coz if it was sent to a local address, it would be easier to prove that the check was received, right?

After some exchanges and apologies on email, I really thought we're finally closing this chapter, and finishing off the deal. Apparently not.

William, if you're reading this, sorry I had to rant. I believe I've just ran out of patience, and once again, you took advantage of the trust I gave you AGAIN (stupid me, right?). Do you really want me to go ahead and use some ugly means, just to get this over with? I'm game if you are. But it won't look good on your military record, that much I can say.

Notice my January messages? I sounded so happy, coz I really thought I'm finally going to get paid, after all these months. Oh well...

I guess DocBart and Shane has something in common.. and that's they're going to pay IF and WHEN they want to... While Tamashigiri and I have to sit down and wait, and hope.

Dan

Signnnnn... I' ve been reading this thread for as long as anyone else have and I usually don' t get involved in such matters. But at this point, and a long time ago, it has become obvious that Mr. Johnson has no intention of honoring his words to anyone. Danny, you' ve been Mr. Nice guy for waaaay too long! And why for heavens sake are you apologizing to Mr. Johnson?!?!? Take care of business.

L8r,
Nakano

Danny,

"I told him the check could be diverted to a
local address which I can provide, but he
insisted that it be shipped here instead"

Looks like you've been duped again into
another fairy tale on a carousel ride.

So, you're going now to a different expedition. USPS refund hunt is over mail w/ check hunt is on.

Wake-up man.

Okay.. this is what I've gathered so far.

He works for Madigan Army Hospital in Ft. Lewis, WA. (253)968-1110 DSN 782

He's in the Physical Therapy Dept.

His current Camp Commander is BG Mack C. Hill.

I went to search for their website, found it, and found a way to leave a feedback, and requested a reply as well.

I *cannot* call up the hospital directly and talk to the camp commander or his superiors, coz basically it would cost me more than what this guy owes me, thus defeating the purpose. What's the use of trying to collect the $313 if I ended up spending over that amount just for long distance calls? sigh....

The Camp Commander doesn't have a public email address (obvious reasons).

I have his address, and his number (William's). As you can see, it's not really as simple as it looks. I don't live there. That probably is the reason why he can screw around with me for this long, coz he knows I can't do anything about it (for now) and he knows it only so well. What can I do? Send a curse to him until his family's 4th generation? I'm basically relying on whatever honor or integrity he has left. Since he shows none of the above anymore, what's there that's left to do?

If you guys don't want this thread up again, then I won't post anymore. I can always kiss that amount goodbye. I just thought that this is the right thing to do. I guess it's not..

Thanks for listening anyways.

Dan, I think you may be missing the point. I don't see anyone upset with you for bringing it up again. What I am hearing everyone say is, "Go get him!" I think you've taken a step in the right direction by leaving feedback through the Web. If that doesn't get you a reply, you can always send his CO snail mail.

Another alternative is to report him for mail fraud to the Postal Inspectors. Their site has a link for you to file a mail fraud report online.

IMO, he has proven his lack of character time & again. Don't expect him to suddenly do the right thing. Force his hand using any & all means at your disposal.

You're right, Brian. Sorry about that.. I guess my mind isn't working right today. I'm feeling so disappointed and helpless at this stage.

I will do what you said, in fact, I'm in that USPS site right now.

Thanks..

Dan

I live just a little north of FT. Lewis, if you need somebody to be a courier or something I would be willing to make the drive if it would help out.

Marvin

Thanks, Marvin. I'd really appreciate that. Let me just try to talk some sense into this guy one last time. It would be useless to go all the way up there if he doesn't have any intentions of paying in the first place.

Dan

Dan,
Just let me know, might be a wakeup call if he was to recieve visitors on your behalf. My search and rescue buddies and I could (and would) use it as an excuse to go play after we talk (get us away from the women).
Later,
Marvin

I can see it now:

Hey, there's a SAR team in here looking for a knife (or a check)! Better tell the CO.

The international knife community can be so cool at times.

Hey thanks for all the offers of help. I really appreciate it a lot.. Can't help but have this smile on my face now. I feel a lot better knowing that my fellow forumites care.

I also received quite a number of emails offering to help out as well. Thanks..

Now I have to sit down and think what the best option would be at this stage... A friend tried calling up his number, only to get an answering machine on the other end. He's already planning to give him a call on the weekend, at home. Let's see what happens this Monday.

Sorry again for the reaction earlier. I'm just feeling too disappointed about being helpless to do anything about it all these times.

Dan

Just how long do you figure to let this guy get away with this? I mean come on its been over a year now and you haven't got any satisfaction. You either have to act and take it to the postal authorities or just chalk it up and forget about it. Constantly posting here about how you are giving him a chance to do the right thing is getting old. Lets get real here this idiot has no intention of making good on the deal and the sooner you realize this and either do something about it or let it go the better off we all will be. I can see it now in a year you posting something like "Well I'm still waiting but I feel that he really wants to make good this time" Bull&*^% the guy is a weasel and I can take odds that your money is never going to come floating back your way.Its time to shi& or get off the pot.
Bob

Okay Bob. With the help of a forumite, I'm giving him the options already.

This time, I will do the RIGHT thing.

Dan
