Have you ever been cut?

I severed part of the tip of my left index finger and thumb with a Randall back in 1990 or so. We picked up the bits and they reattached them at the hospital. They are now nicely beveled. :p

Buckeye67, the good thing is you are ok. Look at the bright side, at least it was a "Randall" you did it with . . . :)
Be safe.

Two of the three worst time i cut my self came from the same knife. The day i got my kbar folder i tryed out the lock and slammed the back of the knife blade into something to see how strong the lock was, well it didnt hold and slammed shut on my hands. I messed with the lock last year to see if i could make it stonger and did the same thing to see if it held up better. same thing happened, sharpend blade slammed into my hands. Iv cut my self hundreds of times since i started working in kitchen but that was the worse times.

Great responses so far. Glad we're all ok! I did forget about the time I was checking out a new Benchmade at the local gun store, not sure which model. It was so freakin sharp that I don't even think I touched it and next thing I knew I was bleeding all over the counter and all over the new Benchmade from my fingers. Guess somehow I managed to slice two fingers and never even felt it. The guy behind the counter was running around trying to find some papertowels. I remember asking him if I had to buy it since I bled on it! :)

I have been very fortunate not to cut myself all that much, especially really badly. I only have two cuts that are bad enough to mention (well one I was told about); all were quite some time ago.

The first one was when I was about 12 or so I was still playing hockey. One night I was taking old hockey tape off my stick using a xacto blade and my Mom yelled at me which caused me to slip. I didn't know/feel anything but realized something was wrong when I started feeling something running down my hand and noticed that the xacto blade was stuck in the top of my left thumb. I ran inside to the sink with the blade still in my thumb. Pulled it out and was bleeding quite profusely. I did basic first aid etc..(boy scouts:D) and got the bleeding to slow down. It didn't take to long for the bleeding to stop so I didn't go to the ER. That was probably stupid not going since I got a scar and now in my early 20's can tell I have a bit of nerve damage in the form of random twitching.

The second worse cut was when I was a baby and put my hand into an old fashion fan. I am only mentioning it since it was cut by a blade (fan blade hahah). I don't remember it but was told about it. It cut off the tip of my right index finger and bled really bad; I was rushed to the hospital and had it stitched up. It left a really bad scar but fortunately didn't cause any finger dismemberment.

Hmm, maybe I'll have to remember that for any future significant others. "Honey, I had to buy the knife, I cut myself and bled all over it."

This is what happens when you play with knives....

That was some pain, respect the blade

I've had a few very minor cuts over the years...until a few months ago.

I was tying a lanyard on one of my fixed blades when the accident happened. While trying to tighten the knot, the blade slipped out of it's kydex sheath and sank into my right index finger.

The blade bounced off the bone, and blood shot everywhere. I had a bit of a time getting the bleeding stopped. Within a few seconds, I actually started feeling dizzy from blood loss.

A trip to the ER fixed everything, but I still have numbness and pain.

Yeah, my long time love of sharp things combined with Boy Scouts has left some fun scars...

Just a few of my favorites;

Left knee hit with hatchet

Left index finger around the first knuckle was basically skinned by my rc3

Left index infront of main knuckle through both sides with a BSA knife

Right leg punctured with 3" Marlin spike

Left middle finger skipped over by a two man saw blade just barely

Thats the main ones, and from this we learn two things about me;

A) I'm right handed

B) Lacking brain cells does not exclude you from earning Eagle Scout...

On a side note, yall are crazy, taking pictures while you're sitting there getting patched up? Nutz, but awesome

I have at least one scar on every finger,palm, and wrist. Many from knives some glass,steam, wires, and various mechanical devices. Hazard of being a mechanic for 35 years.
I have never cut off an appendage and never got stitches in any of them, (needlephobia) but man can some of them pump blood. I think we need a scar photo thread.

I've never been badly cut before, but my lady did shortly after I gave her her first decent knife--a Spyderco Delica Wave. She tried using it to cut a bagel and cut towards herself--youch!!!

i have cut my self many times but not too bad. but earlyer this year at work i slipped and sliced my arm open to the musle. i want to post the pic but its b4 the stiches, looks sweet but its not by a knife so do yall want to see it or should i not post it

I chopped off the tip of my index finger when i was a kid. 6 inch Mora knife hit the finger right above where the nail starts and went right thru.. i think i was 8 years old or so.

@ tattooblade- did he give it to you? cause if not i have a grip that came with some red stuff inside the lock

Whacked the knuckle on my thumb just the other day scraping onions off the cutting board. Sould have held the edge away from me. That chef knife bit deep. If you use knives, you will get cut.

You scared the crap out of me... because for a split second I thought that was... a body part further down. I thought "how the hell?... oh wait a minute that's a finger"

I have given my fingers a few good slices with kitchen knives, but nothing too bad. Just some blood.

i thought the same exact thing
