Have you ever been cut?

Also anyone else ever notice that like 90% of the knife cut threads are from izulas? I see an "Izzy bit me" thread at least once a week. They are blood thirsty little suckers. I think I'll stick with the 5.

Yeah the izzy bit me good once....I ended up my gifting my brother in law one not too long ago,, :D

This thread is a great reminder to not screw around and respect the blade! This should be read by every knife owner, novice or not!

Had my ESEE-4 fall out of my Lanskey the other day and land point down on the top of my bare foot. Just went in maybe an eighth of an inch and bounced off. Barely bled, but it still freakin hurts when I put my shoe on! Lesson learned: don't sharpen knives in bare feet.

Yea I've jsut been cut again with a kitchen knife. Good thing i keep electric tape around me

This Izula bite on our secretary's thumb only required 5 stitches but it was very deep and gave me a new found respect for knife cuts. I thought I could use a butterfly suture or enough gauze and tape but after I saw how it slid back and forth like a pair of lips I told her to just go to urgent care.

I can't believe how many of us have had sliced up and stitched from doing something that you'd never think would be dangerous in the least bit, cord wrapping our Izula's!!! I know myself, Adam, Cricketdave, and a few others I've now seen in this thread have all been bitten from the knife jumping out of the sheath because we thought the retention would hold it when tying the finish knot. I learned my lesson, when wrapping the Izula clamp the blade between 2 boards inside a vise.

***By the way, does anyone know how Cricketdave's hand has been healing up from his Izula attack?!?!?! I remember he said he wasn't sure if they were going to have to operate?

My Izula cut me as bad as I've been cut in a long time. I was wrapping the handle with cord and when pulling the final knot tight I was holding the sheath when the Izula pulled out and sliced my thumb over an inch and very deep. It was a very clean cut and I didn't have the time to go get stitches so i cleaned the cut and wrapped it tight. I was amazed how well it healed, I've has smaller cuts take 15 stitches. The blood was flowing warm that day.

About 20 years ago I had a girlfriend stab me. That was scary. It was only in my hand but that's not what she was aiming for. The blood scared the hell out of her. It scared me more later when I got to thinking about it more.

I used to work as a chef - cuts and burns are just part of the job. My left thumb has 14 stitches - 8 once, 6 another time. I have probably 15 or so visible scars on my hands. The inside of my left index finger is nicely beveled. Instead of working on my technique, I just removed the part that kept getting in my way. Just nailed the tip of my thumb over Xmas - using one of my mother's notoriously dull knives.

I don't really have sharp knife scars - anytime I have been really cut was a dull knife.

i've partialy sliced my tendon in my left pointer finger, right on the knuckle
sad part, i was home alone and just 17 years old ... luckely my doctor lives across the street and is friends with my parents :D also thank god i live in Europe and have a health insurance or whatevr it's called.

just have a big bump on my knuckle that will never go away :(
and it happened with my izula in pink, pink knives = evil stuff:rolleyes::D

The middle finger on my left hand is crooked because I cut a tendon cleaning a shun classic chef knife with a sponge in the sink.

I'm glad I'm not the only who has had "accidents". I have a nice scar on my right calf from my teenage years. Doing stupid things with my gerber Tac II and ended up with it sticking into my calf an inch or so. I have also learned that when flicking my BM axis lock open and closed not to try and catch it if it slip from my hand. That incident nearly amputated my right thumb and left me bleeding like a stuck pig close to midnight. It was an interesting trip to CVS whilst bleeding like a sieve that I remember most. I also learned when wrapping paracord on knives to duct tape the entire blade "for safety reasons". Sheaths are like gun safeties, never trust them. If these are the only scars I get I consider myself lucky. Most of the posts I have read are much more serious.

Not as gory as the others. Don't ask me how, but my knife fell into a 32 ounce cup of soda today. Washing it off carefully, it stung me.

I tipped my finger like that a few months back sharpening my spyderco bushcraft. Didnt even know i did it til looked down and the knife and table were covered in blood LOL. Im a medic so patched myself up and was all good but damn it was easy to do. My knives are all RAZOR sharp. Most can shave my face so i treat them like a loaded gun period. When i come home they go into the safe so my 2 year old can never get them.

when I was like 13 years old I was chopping up kindling in my parents living room at 11 at night with a buck nighthawk. the piece i was chopping got smaller.... smaller...... and WHACK. WHEW close one.... then I looked at my hand and saw white bone, and soon after dark maroon blood rushing down my arm. Almost passed out. Went to the er got stitches, over 15 years later still have the scar.

Cut me once, shame on you. Cut me twice, shame on me!

I have only been cut once. . . . And I'm trying to keep it that way.

Twicw when I was younger I got 2 really nasty cuts. First was whittling when I was 8. I had been using knives for about a year but my mom came up behind me and told me to be careful. scared the heck out of me becuase I didnt know she was there. The little Victorianox classic slipped and went right into my index finger and middle finger of my left hand. Index finger it cut half way through the bone and left a nasty reminder to this day on both fingers. That was 30 years ago. Second bad cut I stabbed myself in left hand in the meaty part of hand between thumb and index finger. Was being stupid as a 17 y.o. prying a tent stake out of the ground with a Buck stockman went the stake broke and the blade went through the hand. Since then its just been little cuts here and there. Wife almost completely severed the tip of her finger about 3 years ago cutting veggies in kitchen. Ouch.
