Have you ever bought a knife because of youtube

We have a lot of people that send us links to youtube videos and ask what we think. I think a lot of knife buyers who are not on forums and are just not sure use youtube to make a lot of their buying decisions.

Like others have said, I have never based a knife purchase soley on a YouTube video, but I will watch them to gain more information on a knife that I am interested in. Sometimes I watch them just for entertainment and eye candy.

Yes.

I saw reviews by Nutnfancy and TheLateBoyScout of knives I had never considered before which I did end up buying.

YT can give you some more information...if you're already interested in a particular knife. But, that's about all.

I use youtube for a lot of reviews, and check what I intend to buy. I certainly have NOT purchased knives due to youtube reviews and other reviews.
Love nutenfancy, virtualvoice and bush camping tools, and Prepeared mind 101, there are others. A lot of good people are doing reviews. my mate and I have done some and intend to do more.

I'm usually too busy to watch stuff on YouTube. Major case of online ADHD. My YouTube channel is more of an archive for my own personal reference than anything else.

While I've never bought a knife strictly because of a review, when I am interested in a knife I watch/read every review I can find before purchasing. I would say earlier in my knifedom reviews, particularly nutnfancy, were very influential. Now that I am more knowledgeable and know what to expect from most companies the videos are less influential. Now they are more to expose any little negative surprises. For example I used to want a D.O.C, but after hearing about issues with the clip and unusually strong detente, I decided otherwise.

I always check on You Tube to see what the consensus is on a particular knife. If there aren't very positive reviews (4 or more) by reputable, adult reviewers, I pass.
Four examples of knives that I almost purchased. The Code 4 and Knockout have been reported over and over to be very slick in the hand. The Kershaw CQC 6k and the Cryo 2 are "very heavy", compared to similar sized knives. Side by side size comparisons are particularly helpful for me. You Tube can be a great info resource for all different types of products. It's free.

Yes, Particularly Nutnfancy. I saw his review on the Sebenza and I knew I had to have one. I think his reviews are awesome and I can watch all of his videos, even the subjects that have no interest to me.

I'll admit that I bought the Cold Steel Kukri Machete based on the knifetest.com destruction test video...

I was as shocked as they were that they couldn't kill it. I got it off weevil bay for about 15 bucks and feel like it was a good investment.

Youtube has never been the cause of my buying a knife. It has confirmed what I was already thinking on a couple of occasions. But, Youtube has convinced me to not buy a couple of hatchets on at least two occasions, and it turned out to be a good decision.

Like everybody else, I watch youtube videos of products that I'm interested in. They add a data point to my research. One thing I try to judge from youtube videos is whether the ergonomics are going to work well for me or not. Because I'm a lefty, sometimes it's tough to get the type of data that I want from normal sources, so seeing how the knife operates in a video often helps me.

I've actually considered starting my own youtube page to do lefthanded reviews of guns/knives/etc, but I'm not yet convinced that there would be enough interest for me to bother.

Actually Ankerson's posts and YouTube vids helped me to reconsider Cold Steel.

I purchased one many years ago and wasn't all that impressed with it. Hadn't bought another one in all that time.
Ankerson's demos of the Tri-Ad lock was a major factor. What sealed the deal for me was a video of knife designer/maker, martial artist and former French paratrooper Fred Perrin throwing a Tri-Ad lock CS hard into a wooden backstop multiple times. Fred knows something about hard use knives. He was very impressed with the lack of play in the blade. One of the commenters translated the French and said Fred said that he wished he'd come up with that lock design !

I have bought lots of knives based on YouTube reviews. I have no decent knife stores nearby, so YouTube is the next best thing. I like TheApostleP the best as he usually takes apart the knives before he reviews them.

I bought a cheap $7 coast knife because someone said it was a good knife in one of their edc updates, i really dont like the knife. That is the only time when youtube encouraged me solely, to buy a knife. My favorite reviewers are cutlerylover and we all juggle knives.

I watched several reviews on the Izula and the Tops Mil-Spie 3 and the Tops Shango before ordering the Shango and Izula. So for me, yes I have. I would have to say I enjoy Gideonstactical's videos. But I watch a bunch of different ones.
