Have you ever bought two of the exact same knives? Why?

I have purchased 4 Kershaw Junkyard Dog IIs - two have been extensively customized by Paradigm Custom Scales, one has a battleship great g-10 scale setup and one has a titanium frame lock handle which is darn close to a custom Gaylean. For me, it's the perfect edc blade - big, nice recurve and awesome lockup. Made in the USA is a nice bonus.

BRKT Aurora I purchased another after I felt how great if felt in the hand. I wanted one for EDC and one to go in the BOB

I have 2 Kershaw Shallots. And if it counts, I have a Skyline, Skyline fixed blade and a Cryo and Cryo II :p

I have several Spyderco Ti Militaries, but they end up being modified. I always buy 2 of the Paramilitary 2 or Military sprints when I can get in on them. If i dont end up keeping one, they always sell or trade well.

I've had multiple Gayle Bradleys and Speedform 2s, mainly because they're just great knives for the money.

I used to buy two of the duplicate knife I loved. But that got old quick so I sold them.

Now I never do anymore. There are to many other cool knives to get.

I spent about 500 to 1000 € on Opinels in the las like 20 years (mostly #6 and #8).
I have them scattered all over the place (my home, parents' home, grandparents', car, workplace, etc.) in case I forget to pack my EDC ;)
I use them, give them to colleagues and friends (to use or as gift), and make sure there is always a knife around if I need one.
They are affordable, classic, and get the job done! ;)

I feel the same way, I get it if you buy 2 of a LE run or something like that (use one and keep one NIB) but there are to many choices out there to buy the same exact knife twice.

I usually can't decide between plain edges and combo edges so I usually get them both lol. I have plain/combo versions of the tenacious, zt350, victorinox trailmaster etc...

I bought six cs bushmans when they were 3 for $20. Buy em cheap and stack em deep. No duplicate folders, but some that are similar. I give knives away if I realize somebody doesn't have one.

Depends on if you are a collector, a user or BOTH.

I happen to be both, so I do have some duplicates of EDC's and safe queens.

not the exact same, but I just got a serrated spyderco native at a great price to go along with my plain edge. I just love the feel and size of the native and recently realized serrated edges rock, plus it was an unbelievable price.

Have you ever bought two of the exact same knives? Yes. Why? Because I have an illness.

I once bought a backup for a shitty S&W folder because it was so cheap and it was a surprisingly good flipper. Earlier this year I picked up a Spyderco Native 5 in fluted titanium and it turned out to be too nice for me to carry over my less expensive EDC choices. I'm really tempted to seek out another one.

Kershaw Scallion. I got an abused one from a pawn shop and I liked it so much that I bought a new one from Academy Sports. The other one is a Benchmade HD which I lost (IN MY HOUSE!!!) and so I bought a replacement.

I have multiples in Cold Steel folders and different model Mora's, because they don't cost much. And because they don't cost much, I use them semi roughly and there are no tears upon loss or breakage. I currently do not know were I left two Mora's. Ironically these same knives probably give more service and pleasure of use because of these factors, over my ESEE's etc.

Never thought about multiple models until I stumbled upon the Kershaw Zing. Once it was discontinued I bought the harder to find models including two Orange Zings. One was a new in box, the other a user. Maybe one day I'll find a damascus model one or two.

Moving forward maybe I will consider thinning the herd but not yet.
