Have you ever bought two of the exact same knives? Why?

Yes I have. When I found a knife that I really, really liked, I would try to buy a second one to have in case something happened to the original. The last knife I bought two of is the ZT0600, because it is a perfect big folder just like I like my folders to be. I am actually thinking about buying another ZT0801 because I like the one I have. I also have the ZT0801CF on order, but will probably only purchase one.

Yes but it was unintentional. The older I get the more I will forget. I ended up with 3 of the Case limited edition XXIX Peanuts so rather than return them for credit I gave one to each of my daughters and told them to just put them up for now they might gain some value in a few decades. I bought one Frontier lockback for work and finally had to buy an identical one due to the 1st one ending up more of a fillet knife blade than a clip blade.

If I had the $ id buy 2 most of the spyderco sprint runs and various other knives (especially limited ones) but I do have 2 kershaw skylines one black/bead blast and one brown/black, 2 paramilitary 2's brown/S35VN and digicam/black, 2 manix 2 xl's black/black and CF/S90V (on preorder) and 2 stretch 2's green/ZDP-189 and super blue (on preorder). If theres another coloration or different steel/materiels on a knife I already have ill buy it if I like it enough.

I see Its quit common around here to buy quantities of the same knife. Happened to me also;) for different reasons.

When I got a Camillus Becker BK7 it was THE knife for me. The warranty went with the company belly up. Luckily Becker-line got adopted by Ka-bar. So I had to have the Kabar BK7 + its outstanding warranty. Which makes me even happier when I beat the carp out of the knife (although I don’t think I’ll ever need to send it in). The Camillus BK7 sits as a modified safe-queen.

Bought three Opinels over time. No-6 broke, gave the no-7 to my dad and kept the no-8.
Same with Mora’s when I found a nice deal…so I got five, three of the same model. Sold two of them.

When I buy knifes from the US I usually get a few doubles. Those get sold to cover the shipping + import taxes.

As close as I've gotten:

We're almost through page three and Charlie Mike still hasn't showed up??

That dude is the KING of matched sets!

As a rule I don't make a habit of doubling up on knives. The exceptions that make the rule are so inexpensive that I just felt compelled to repeat what I consider two of my best purchases that pertain to knives. The Kershaw Tremor, and the Ontario Utlitac II, justblow me away. They float my boat in just about every way a value knife can. To me in both cases the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

I've bought doubles of a couple of different models so I would have a spare in case something happened to the first one.

Three Spyderco Military's. First one bought in 96 and still edc'ed today. It's on the left. Bought the other two in 2012, one for the black blade the other for it's being a left hander.

Nest folding knife made, bar none. Need to buy a few more.

I bought two black/satin PM2s because I got into the PM2 feeding frenzy. I knew I would be able to trade for something really good. It worked out great. I was able to trade (+$) for one of my grails: Al Mar Sere 2000. Otherwise I don't buy doubles.
I have 3 Rat 1s, but they are not exactly the same: green, brown and grey. I would consider getting duplicates of each of these.

One to save/collect, and the other to actually use. You never know when something utilitarian will become a collector's item.

I've had 2 Dozier canoes, one to carry & one rode in my bike's saddlebag. Lost the bag, knife and about $700 worth of gear, but having the duplicate eased the pain somewhat.

Exact same knife (same pattern, steel, handle materials, handle colors): three knives, 2 of each. One was a mistake. Ordered the knife from one dealer, thought it was out of stock after I placed the order and before I verified that, ordered from a different dealer, but both showed up. I decided to keep them both so I could modify one and leave the other one intact.

The other two were because I spotted a great bargain price on the duplicates, and wanted to experiment with patinas on them while leaving one intact.

Now as far as having more than one of a same knife but in different handles or steels, then yes, guilty as charged there. Case slipjoints. I think the max I have of one pattern is 5, but each is unique as to blade shapes, steels, handles, or some combination of those.

Two alox vic soldiers before they were discontinued. Still have the second new in package

I have double of Enlan EL08, Sanrenmu 710, 763 and Resilence,0.mainly because i like them so much and want to have backup. Sold double of 763, EL01,EL02 and Navy k63.

I guess I just grow out of this phase.
