Hello knifenuts !

Just a very random thought:
(Thought it might be interesting to see what knives other people have given away. :)

Have you Ever given a knife away? To a friend/familymember/giveaway on The forum or whatever?
1:What knife was it? 2: How Did you feel afterwards? 3: Why Did you gave it away?

1: paramilitary 2 camo/satin to My dad, resilence black/satin to My brother and then a black endura 4 ffg here on the forum.
2: i felt very good to give someone, ITs a special feeling, espacially when i give something that i Also love, a knife.
3: i gave them away simply because i felt i wanted to do a good thing.
And i thought My brother could use a better knife than a cheap Mora. :)

(IF you have other good questions for this thread, ill add them)

I have given a knife or two away

Ive given away a number of things in my time , but a knife seems to have a set reaction . Kinda that look like "wtf ?? he gave me a knife ?? " followed by "wow , he gave me a KNIFE !" , then a few moments later there is that back
slapping hand shaking moment , and that look , " HE , gave ME a knife !! "

Its usually a lot more pronounced when youre giving someone a hand made zombie eradicator type big knife , but once youve seen it the first time , you see that series of thoughts flick across their face near on every time .

Ive been lucky enough to have been able to give away to people a variety of things over my time , Nothing really touches a guy like when you hand them a knife and tell them " I made this for you " its kinda primal I think

I was given my first rifle the day I was born, it is a Winchester 30-30 model 94 the serial number places it pre WWII. I was also given my first hunting knife on that day. It is a handmade knife by my Grandfathers brother. He made it out of a Craftsman file. I still have the rifle but just recently gave the knife to my son. I have given him many knives over the years, I just felt it was the right time to give him my old hunting knife. How did I feel? Full of joy and proud to continue passing this great knife down. And yes you can shave with it, I have. But then again I have shaved with most of my knives, I do love to sharpen edged weapons.

Imperial Kamp King to protourist

Red Kershaw DWO to my mom

Buck Vantage Large Select to my father

Spyderco Tenacious to my brother

Also running a GAW with two TL-29s, so I guess I can count whoever wins those haha.

Given a Benchmade griptillian to my dad and very happy I did. It was his first real good knife and he could use it since he uses his knife daily like my of us. He works at a printing and mailing place so packages are always around to be opened. The Grip is much higher quality than his cheap no name chinese knife he bought in mexico. lol. And his Smith and Wesson which was decent for the money fell apart after 2 years completely. took 1 year before the blade wiggle drove me insane.

1. Buck 110 to my ex-brother in law as a thank you for taking me and my ex-wife in when we fell on hard times, it was a cool feeling seeing him light up over it.
2 CaseXX yellow handled trapper to a good buddy of mine who lost his mom. he was always there for me if i needed a bud to talk to and i remembered him admiring it. he has multiple knives but to this day carries only that one i gave him which is awesome.

I've bought a bunch of knives as gifts, and given away a couple of mine. The last one was a Spyderco Remote Release that I had kept NIB and my muay thai coach really liked (he's a knife guy), I was very happy to let him have it since he's a fantastic person who's always helping me out (he owns a gym and gave me the chance to teach my own classes, lends me the place to use when I've got competitions coming up, etc.).

1. Have you Ever given a knife away?
Yes, several.

2. To a friend/familymember/giveaway on the forum or whatever?
All of those ... whatever equals co-worker in my case.!

3. What knife was it?
Several Opinels, Moras and SAKs ... last was/is a Buck small Vantage Select ... and about 10 others I do not remember any more ;)

4. How Did you feel afterwards?
Pretty good, the giftees were happy, the knives get used, I have space for new knives, definately win:win :D

5. Why Did you gave it away?
Some because someone expressed an interest in one of my knives, most because they just sat in a drawer and were not used. Knives need to be used imho!
No sir, no "Safe-Queens" for me, thanks! ;)

Recently gave my brother an orange Ontario Rat 2. He works manufacturing solar panels and always has a need for a knife so ended up asking me about a decent one. I ended up just giving him the Rat 2. He totally loves it and uses it on a daily basis. No better feeling than that.

I've given away too many to list. Generally I'm more in the business of buying something new for someone, but every once in a while I decide it's time to downsize a little so I'll pass a long a few I'm not using. I've given each of my nephew's a different pocket knife. It always feels good to give them one because I know they all take care of them and use them daily (the youngest was counting down the days until he finally got to join the club). I gave my oldest nephew a knife on a whim and then decided to make a habit out of it. Any others I gave away were because I saw someone in need or was looking to make some space.

I have given probably 10 to family and around 5 to friends and neighbors.

Great thing to do, especially with knives that are not being or going to be used.
Most here have several that fit that bill.

Yeah, I've given knives away. Feels great knowing they're going to a good home to get used. Last year I gave a few away in the Pay It Forward threads. A Kershaw Clash, A Buck Vantage Force and a Kershaw Shuffle. I love getting updates from their new owners telling me how much they love the knives. With so much negativity in the world, it's nice to make someone's day every once in a while.

As for family and friends, I gave my brother a Kershaw Brawler to replace this tiny Frost Cutlery knife he carried to open packages and whatnot. I also gave a good friend of mine a Kershaw Blackout for his birthday. He really appreciated it.

I've done knife giveaways, and I think a couple of knives were customs. I've also given knives to my ex-gfs son who showed an interest in them.

I've given a few through the party it forward threads. I think I've felt good every time.

I give a knife to all of the guys that endure working with me.
And I just put that together. The last knife I gave to my co-worker was a foliage green combo edge Endura. Huh, I think the Endura will be my go-to gift knife. That and I've got a box full of them.

I'm also considering a GAW on my 1 year anniversary here. I've sold a bunch here so want to give a little back. ;) Just need to figure out the proper etiquette and which knife it will be.

Knives: Case Peanut, Kershaw Skyline, Kershaw Cryo
Recipient: Forumite, co-worker, nephew
Reasons: Gave away because I wasn't using them and figured the recipient would get more enjoyment out of it than me.
Feeling: Felt good to know that something was getting some use by someone who would appreciate it / need it more than me.

Gave one to the guy that delivered my kit car. Had no cash and found out the last minute that it's kinda customary to tip or give a small gift to the driver. I had a new Camillus yellow jacket in the wood case I had planned on using that I gave him. Felt good. He lived it.
