Hasn't happened to me. I find most don't know what a good knife is. It's hard to explain a $400 knife to them.
It's the proverbial par for the course when it comes to anything considered as a "hobby" and pride of ownership. While someone can walk into a Home Depot and buy a "knife" for $20 - $40, or buy similarly priced knife on Amazon, they may wonder as to why someone would pay 10 to 20 times as much for something which basically performs the same tasks! It's like you driving a $50K SUV or crossover and then the owner of the new Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet having to explain to you as to why he is sinking about $1 million $ into that fugly beast
