We are using stones found at a river mouth, that have naturally been smoothed. For stone tools, you don't want too much holes, so lava rock that has a lot of these is not used as much. What stone are you using!!!!!! Are those local or from the big island???? Mauna Kea had deposits of super hard rock high up on top........Hawaiite (spelling???) its called...... Pretty cool... Eruption under a glacier made it cool faster n harder........I'd imagine some could be found byyou though..... Stay safe!!! Missing this thread......
Yes, but it is quite rare. The sole source of obsidian in the state of Hawaiʻi is Pu`u Wa`awa`a, a broad, dome-shaped cone on the north flank of Hualālai Volcano.Does flint or obsidian naturally occur in the Hawaiian Islands? Or are the islands too "young" to form obsidian?
There is a lot of it just lying around. I go hiking there frequently. We are using stones found at a river mouth, that have naturally been smoothed. For stone tools, you don't want too much holes, so lava rock that has a lot of these is not used as much.

It's very starchy and sort of bland. What does Taro taste like?
It looks like a Beet or even a Rhubarb. Maybe a Sweet Potato. Though, I'm sure it has it's own personality.
I'm intrigued!
