Detail on that duo? Especially the knife. Me gusta!

Hi Scouter27!
I think you already know about the Tomahawk. (Estwing Carpenters Hatchet I modified)
The knife is a nice little piece. I made it from 0-1 steel. I kept it thin and light. I made it with a chisel grind on the right side of the blade. It cuts pretty darn well (slimy stuff sometimes sticks to the smooth sides) it is 1/8th inch thick 4 inch blade 8 1/4 inch overall length at 1 1/2 inches wide. I like it. I have been in a paracord kick lately. I think this blade with a normal flat V grind and textured flats will really make a great little user. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers.

Thank you! When I first got it and the hawk, I just thought they'd be something to keep til I could afford better. But as time went on I kept adding to them more and more until now they're my favorites.

Old Hick's are a lot of fun to mess around with, I've modified several of my own. They perform great, mine just don't look as good as yours (yet).

They're a ton of fun. I bought a 10" butcher for my friend that I plan to convert into a seax. We'll see how that goes over. This one is just cold blued, with a little sinew wrap at the base of the blade, some sanding and restaining on the handle with Minwax Mahogany, and the engravings done with a hand dremel.

Still waiting for my Fort Turner Poled Iroquois. Dunno when I'll get it, but I've done some work on the trailhawk in the meantime. Nothing much, just got sick of the overdone handle. Got a simple, 19 inch shaft, stained and finished, blued the head, sinew wrapped, and all done.

Alongside it is a Jeff white custom trade knife I snagged, and a Cold Steel Magnum kukri machete where I wrapped the handle with sinew and leather and blued the head. The original edge and paint were meh, but nothing some TLC couldn't fix!

Mike,

Thank you sir, awful nice of you to say especially considering some of the tools we get to see here at Blade Forums.
Got lucky getting my order in early enough with Joe P for #4 of the 10 Jason Knight "Khuks of Hell" pictured above. :)

Really like the looks of your work, Mike, especially your outside the box stuff such as the cold blued Joe Keeslar style brut de forge upset choil piece you posted in the Customs forum.

Very cool.

Doug
