He broke them all

While it's fun to watch someone actively try (and succeed) in destroying knives, it's only entertainment. If you use a knife as it's supposed to be used I doubt you would ever break them, or at least very rarely.

Just watch DBK. They do some ridiculous stuff with knives, but on a whole most stuff survives. You'd probably never baton through a frying pan, or shoot a knife with an air rifle, but it's fun to laugh at. And Mikkie has a kick ass band.
I think they freakin shot the Strongarm right? & it didn't break..

But broke into pieces with the Mr. splits in a gas mask

The ESEE Junglas, seen & read great reviews, seems like a beast..

Look at him holding it in three pieces like that, what is entertaining about that? Beats me..

There are some people who can destroy an anvil with a rubber mallet and I’ve had the misfortune to have worked with a few of them. If there’s a wrong way to do something that’s the way they do it every time. I guess logic and common sense has alluded them. I have also noticed that they tend to take things to the extreme even in simple matters just to get a reaction. I try to avoid such influences and stick to the practical and reasonable methods.

I agree with you guys .
I don't find it entertaining or applicable to the build of the knives.
It's just like a tik tok video to me.

Would you not like to see firearms tested to failure? Sometimes it’s informative to see the amount of abuse a tool can handle. A tool that may need to be relied upon in extreme circumstances.
Some people would rather not know failure points 🤷‍♂️

I'd rather have the information/content available to me so that I may at my discretion chose to watch or not watch and use or not any data gleaned.

To me, the video and those like it seem like amateurish circus acts without significant entertainment value.

I can save everyone some trouble if they want to see any knife break. Put it in a vise, apply a little liquid nitrogen, tap lovingly with a sledge hammer. Done. Quick and easy!

Check this out, this guy breaks everything from ESEE to CS to KA-BAR to Gerber to TOPS to Moras etc etc etc, & ends up recommending the knives he tests.

I've never seen anything like it. Since when are knives treated like that?! Problem is these guys are making these videos because there's demand for "knife destruction"

I was LMAO watching him doing pull ups on the Strongarm.
I love destructive testing.
All companies do it so the tests are not unusual at all, just we're never allowed to watch unless it's a consumer willing to burn money for views.

Someone here should make a knife out of like 8670 that’s 3/8” thick with a scandi grind and see if he can break it
🤣
😂
You mean he should test a Busse?

The "sharpened prybar" genre is as old as Bladeforums.

Hey now! Not all busse blades are sharpened prybars 😁

I understand some people want to know when their blade could fail. Everything will eventually break with Mr. splits in a gas mask, by my count, I could be wrong, all the fixed blades he tested under title "until it breaks" did break, & a folding knife survived.

His testing is flawed & done in poor taste.

imo

If all he does is put the knife in a vice and smash it with a hammer that's still highly valuable information.
Knowing where the knife breaks speaks volumes for the design of a fixed blade, the suitability of the tang and handle materials, and how much the blade bends before breaking tells you about the Heat Treat (you don't want a brittle blade that is likely to fracture and you don't want a squishy soft blade that won't hold an edge).

Seeing that Gerber destroyed on video makes it infinitely more appealing, I never would have given them a second thought without the live testing.

This is actually great - the mask, splits, are clearly a gimmick with the accent. If this makes zero sense to you, it is a new generation thing. "Russian hacker breaks knife", bla. I want to know what type of "ABUSE" my stuff can take. He calls it abuse. Anyone saying it ISN'T abuse is the silly one.
