Hello Old Friend, 710 content..

I picked this thread up and emailed benchmade for three of the deep carry pocket clips. Received and email back within two days stating that the clips had been ordered and shipped. NIIIIIIICCCCCEEEE. I've got the original ATS-34, the M2HS (this one is hard use), and the D2. Now finding some really cool scales would be nice........

Just picked up a 710 in a trade and man I am loving this knife. I was really turned off by it's size... until I finally held one in hand. Ordinarily I'm a small EDC guy, but this knife has me rethinking that philosophy. I guess as long as it's sleek I can certainly sport a 4 incher.

I don't have much experience with D2 though. Should I constantly be cleaning and applying tuff glide to the blade? How much attention should D2 get with daily utility tasks? Also does Benchmade use CPM-D2 or the non powdered version of D2?

Benchmade uses the standard, not CPM process D2. It's really good stuff; there's no reason whatever to apply Tuf-Glide to the blade, esp. if you plan on cutting food. A clean blade is a happy one, and with D2 don't let it go dull - it's a bear to bring back (for most of us) regular stropping goes a long way towards keeping a working edge.

How about some pictures ;)

There has been allot of comments about the 710M2HS blade steel that has led me to believe that the Benchmade 710M2HS is the #1. best rated blade.

I have been looking around and the 710 with m390 blade steel is priced higher?

Am I missing something here?

Thank You

This is a length comparison I did not think would be so close. That is where the similarities end. The 710 fits my hand like it was molded to it and the Contego 810 feels like I could move the world. Two very fine tools that have drastically different personalities. I am very happy to own both.
Thanks again for looking, Frank.

I've had my first 710 about 12+ years ago and since then I always carried one.

Currently I have 2, both 710 M2HSSR, both reground and rehardened, 64HRC. Performance is superb. Reanodized AL handles on one of them, it was really worn out. The two below are my edcs.

Few more:

Top two are M2 blades and the blade from the top one ended up in the handle of the 4th...

Still looking for 710-101, missed it.

A 710 was my first real knife and I hope I have it when I kick off. It is one of the most comfortable knifes I have ever carried. The blade design and kick are perfect.

I have always liked the 710 very much. It's still one of my favorite Benchmades.
I have a 710HS that's in need of being sent back to the factory for some TLC. It was used hard at my last job and never once gave me any problems.

The one I rarely see mentioned is still one of my favorite versions they made, the 710-01.
This is a *very* old picture of one. I still have one and one of these days I really need to get a better picture of it.

Does anyone make green micarta scales for a 710?

I have two, one in M390 and one in CPM-M4.

Green Micarta?
You mean like this stuff?

Could be....;)

Keyman.

Is there a way to remove a small scuff or chip or maybe scratch from the tail end of this type of material from my 610 Ruckus? I don't know what or how it got there but it almost looks like a spot of superglue or something?

And all those wooden scales are amazing. They really look good on all your mods !
