Hello Old Friend, 710 content..

I just ended up paying about the same price for a full size Ritter in M2. (Grail replacement)
I lost my original full size Ritter I bought in '06 this last summer. :(
I have a mini, a full size & a 710 all in M2.
To me, it's worth it.
Just remember...you've got to be able to sharpen it too.
I use the Lansky system with diamond stones.

Going by memory, I think your date on the M2 Ritters is right, and I remember Doug Ritter saying that the slightly greater number of large Ritter Grips that were sold came about because Benchmade literally used all of their existing M2 stock on hand for that - it was a clean-up run. I like the M2 blades better than the M4 versioln. I had a total of four Ritters in M4. I sold them all - but I kept my two M2 Ritters.

Right on J !
Thank you for the confirmation!
I thought that sounded about right.

The 12 year old mentioned on the 'Bay is a good looking user, lots of life left. Best part of buying an EDC version in M2 is no worries about using it!

Can you mention the price & which model would be the grail with a M2 blade?

The 710HS and 800HS are equal in scarcity, each would sell for $300 + IMO Should someone (sell) one. Grail? I'd give the nod to the 710, I think it's the better knife.

Thank You ..

I have a 722 Tanto that looks allot like the 710 only a Tanto Blade ATS-34. Is there much difference between these two?

I've got one with origjnal box at 98%+ condition. So in essence it should be worth $290.00 +.

Perhaps I should sell mine at that price or better?

It'll be someone else's holy grail.

Email sent, check it out!

What is the full model number of the Benchmade 710HS with a M2 (non black) steel blade and the non black coated clip and hardware?

And do all of these Benchmades 710 blades have a (I'm hoping this is the correct term) re-curve shape?

Thank You

The label on my box reads:

710HS Axis Lock, High Speed

And yes, every one of the 710 models employ a recurve along the cutting edge of the blade. Some variants have a more pronounced belly than others do. I'm not going to quote rules, but it looks like the newer models have less belly, meaning less curve.

I'm not sure I understand what you're looking for; Later models like the 710-1 came with M390 blades and silver fittings, also available in black, the standard offering 710D2 is also available in silver and black.

The 710HS only came in black, first in BT, later in BK coatings.

The 710HS is second from the top. Look carefully at the recurve on the blades; it's different between models.

I was actually going to ask you if you had a picture with them standing up or from the top.

I don't know why it is, but I never did care for a upward re-curved blade.

Thanks .. I may have to look at this model instead.

I'm just trying to figure out which Benchmade 710 with a M2 blade without any black coated add-ons on it, I maybe interested in.

What are the reasons for a upward re-curved blade?

The recurve blade has been used for centuries, it's very effective at slicing. The part of the blade dead centered in the curve applies much more force to what it's cutting than does a plain edge drop point. In drawing back it sinks deeply - you get the idea I think.

BTW - good luck in finding either a 710HS or M2 Ritter. You will pay a premium for either, but as a collectable are worth their weight, and as a user cannot be matched for durability and hardness.

I have ony seen 1 M2 710 with no black coating on it.
That was just recently on the Bay and it sold for just over $600.
That was a prototype, not a production model.
I beleive there were only 4 or 5 prototypes like this made, extremely rare.
All M2 710 production models have a black coating of some kind.
I'm hoping Joe will correct me if I am wrong. ;)
