We agreed on tradeing a Benchmade 300sn for a Benchmade 915 Triage and he sent me a CRKT m-21 is there anything i can do about this? I have all of the emails back and forth. My shipment was insured and he had not replied to my emaild in four days. I have sent him numerous emails and he is not responding!

Is that username correct? I don't see him as a member here.

Thanks Morrow.

KnifeJunkey Did he have his email turned on when you went through the deal?

All I can say is with you having 12 positive feedback and him having less then 50 post and zero feedback I would of had him ship first.

Good luck getting your knife back. Maybe he was in the process of several trades and just mixed up the boxes... here's hoping.

If he doesn't make things right, he's not gonna be around long.
As a rule of thumb, I don't do any transactions with people that haven't been here for at least a year and have a decent post history. He registered 8 days ago and by all intents has no history to speak of, no feedback, no post history. It's almost like throwing a knife down a well and hoping you can find it. This is a good reason to implement a waiting period of sorts for new folks, rather than running loose in the Exchange.

Exactly. Don't send a member that new a knife or money. You have no protection at all on the knife you sent.
I wish there was a waiting period for new members on trades. I'm not going to trade with one, but many do.

Good luck and hope he gets you the knife.

Your feedback score is Zero. Mine is 48. Nothing personal, but you're going to ship first, or a trade isn't going to happen. Not that I think you're going to pull a fast one on me, but you don't have the feedback yet to show that you won't. Once you get it built up, others won't be as likely to ask you to ship first.

When my feedback was in the mid 40's, I had someone with a rating of 2 insist I ship first. No dice.

Pretty good rule, I would read everyone of cods posts. This is from a thread he started. Get to know who is and how he thinks.

Remember even someone with 1600 posts can screw over a guy with less than 50. It is a risk, all I have to say is heaven help the poor sob that tries to screw me over.

In that thread he claims to have had an older account but...
What sucks is somehow i lost my old account so im back to step one

Wonder if there is anyway to verify this or if it was just a ploy.

He also was active everyday (in the trade forums) leading up to you posting he 'sent the wrong knife', and now hasn't been on since.

We have had a veritable flood of scamsters lately, or so it seems. Guess they got tired of scamming folks on ebay.

That gives one hope. Have the mods discussed possible ways to deter scam-sters. Like requiring traders to have paid memberships. Or be an active member (paid or not) for certain period of time. I don't know what the answer is, and even paid members behave badly, but it seems like a paid member would be more psychologically invested in the community. Just a thought.

Or maybe we have all gotten more alert and more assertive in tracking them dow and destroying them.

I traded an expensive Microtech for a NIB Southard with an absolute noobie. I asked him to ship first and he had no problem with it at all. That is how it should work and if they give us a hard time then wash your hands of them. It does seem a bit crazy as of late.

Im sorry for your loss and hope everything gets resolved in your favor... All these scams make me only want to deal with members who are extremely active in everything (not just the exchange, which im also guilty of,)

keep us posted OP. I am sorry for the bad trade so far. I have been a bit leary of trades when people with no feedback or history ask for a trade. I have had other great trades with new members as well. I have asked a few to send there's first. I have found them very willing to do it in order to build up credability here on the forum. Good luck to you.

I hope the OP gets some satisfaction. This kind of thing makes me so mad - to the point of, well it makes me mad.
