Help me spend $1000

Okay, sold my motorcycle I don't ride anymore and got a grand to spend on knives. I am at that stage in my knife life where I am considering my first ' expensive' knife. For me that is anything over $300. I have bought the ZT's and Spyderco sprints and spent up to$300 but have never faired into the CRK or Hinderer or Striders and others territory.

I know all this crap is subjective, but what ya think between just grabbing me 4 more nice $250ish knives or just grabbing both a Sebenza and a Hinderer and scratching that itch every knife lover eventually scratches?

My big problem is I cannot handle them beforehand so have no clue which I would like or dislike or even of the models they offer which I would like or dislike.

Or I could just say, screw those and grab more ZT's or something and build up that collection.

One thing I will not do is buy one $1000 knife like a Decepticon or some such thing. Diminishing returns for me is $500 or more.

Any thoughts from you other poor suckers afflicted with knife buying addiction syndrome?

Buy second hand and if you don't like it, sell it.

I buy a lot of knives without handling them. Some I'm not overly excited about at first, but end up growing on me.

Spend it all on scratch tickets. That way you will win big and can buy all the knives!

On the real though the Sebenza or Inkosi or Umnumzaan and a Hinderer of some sort is right where I would spend that loot.

Honestly, if I was going to buy two $500 knives I'd probably start with a Hinderer and a Sebenza. Tbh, that's how I started down the road of those midtech/cheaper customs. I ended up loving both and keeping them but the good news is that they hold their value pretty well and are usually a quick resale if you don't like them. Less popular midtechs can be slower to resell.

That Inkosi is kind of calling me and as for Hinderer's, boy, my preferences are all over the place with those. As for the CRK's, do all of them have that new ceramic detent knife lock setup like the new Inkosi's? I really like the idea behind that. As for new ones, all I see, unless you get the plain Jane models, have the flats buffed or something. Not sure I dig that much. Especially since they don't buff the lockbar with it. I prefer the ones with inlays because I think that would help keep stuff from reaching the scales and scuffing them up. Sometimes I wish there weren't so many dang choices. Ridiculous.

I have a natural micarta large Inkosi that has the nonbuffed scales. As it is only the Inkosi and I believe the Umnumzaan have the ceramic detent/lockface. (It is amazing).

I believe you are saying you prefer the chalky scales that the plain janes come with. You can get Inkosis and Sebenzas with that chalky scale and inlays.

(What finish do they use on that chalky scale? Some kind of bead blast)

If I were you, I'd get this Large Inkosi with natural canvas micarta inlays:
