Help me spend $1000

I vote Inkozi & Hinerer. If you're buying from the Exchange, maybe you can swing both a large & small CRK and the Hinderer.

Hmm. Easy: my cancer medication is $12,000.00 for 60 tablets, or $200 per tablet. Buy me 5 tablets, or 2-1/2 days of medication.

Thank you. Do you need the number to the specialty pharmacy, or do you have it handy? See your messages for my shipping information.

Kindest regards,

RLW

I kid, I kid. I have not been in the same room as one, but do the Rockstead. Gorgeous.
. Keep,posting.

These three I would have:
A new SAK Huntsman in blue.
A Chris Reeve Mnandi, as pretty as you like
A large Sebenza, second hand as its for using.

After that whatever you like. If you are an outdoors kind of guy then a Skrama and Terava 110 for Bushcraft. A Survive knives GSO 4.1 for Survival stuff and its a great knife. Something from Bark River for a hunting knife. Any good Spyderco or Benchmade for everyday, the Chris Reeve for weekends.
A Silky Saw F180, because if you love the outdoors then a Silky is a must have. The Heavy Cover Titanium Canteen is another fabulous and fabulously expensive piece of kit.

Certain finishes and designs look fine after years of use, others look beat up and not great. A plain Sebenza you could drag behind a truck and it would look fine, a fancy wouldn't do as well. Only you know how you treat your stuff.

Much of the above you own, because you can. The last time I had a good budget I bought a wall hanger, a beautiful custom hunting bowie; but then I have plenty of good user knives.

There are those who collect and use little. Some who just love the finest that can be done. Then those who want to use them and don't mind spending a bob or two.
Never know what people really are looking for. If its custom then best to know the maker or at least have an interest in their reputation, because thats what you are buying into. Factory, then just a good knife for value which might be incredibly good and pricy. So whatever floats your boat.

It has to be the Hinderer and Inkosi or other CRK or a Rockstead.

Alternatively two CRKs

Okay, sold my motorcycle I don't ride anymore and got a grand to spend on knives. I am at that stage in my knife life where I am considering my first ' expensive' knife. For me that is anything over $300. I have bought the ZT's and Spyderco sprints and spent up to$300 but have never faired into the CRK or Hinderer or Striders and others territory.

I know all this crap is subjective, but what ya think between just grabbing me 4 more nice $250ish knives or just grabbing both a Sebenza and a Hinderer and scratching that itch every knife lover eventually scratches?

Or I could just say, screw those and grab more ZT's or something and build up that collection.

^ I think you should absolutely satisfy your curiosity, and pick up at least one Chris Reeve folder, and perhaps one of the other 2 you mentioned. The SnG model has always been one my favorite designs; the ergonomics on that model is perfect (at least for me).

Then, with the money you saved purchasing 2 of the 3 brands you mentioned as possibilities- hopefully saving a few bucks buying here on the secondary market, maybe another ZT.

Good luck!

Any Chris Reeve knife is a solid buy ( albeit I don't have a lot of experience with them and only own one ) it's made me happy enough to recommend them.

I'm looking forward to a Mnandi, if I had your budget I would purchase a Mnandi wood inlay and a Damascus small sebenza 21 wood inlay.

Good luck sir!

Chris Reeve Inkosi or Sebenza. Get a pretty one and baby it. Get a plain one and use it like it's a work tool.
DPX HEST. The more I carry this the more I like it. Built like a tank.
Benchmade 901 Carbon Fiber. A really nice knife.

I have handled the CRKs and have 5 inbound. The DPX is a daily carry for several years. The Benchmade is the daily carry backup for a while now.

One thing I forgot to mention, I am an avid neurotic flipping addict. I may open and close my carry knife 2-300 times in a day easy. Are any of these mentioned not really suitable,to that habit. I read somewhere that CRK's are not that good for that.

My big problem is I cannot handle them beforehand so have no clue which I would like or dislike or even of the models they offer which I would like or dislike.

Or I could just say, screw those and grab more ZT's or something and build up that collection.

One thing I will not do is buy one $1000 knife like a Decepticon or some such thing. Diminishing returns for me is $500 or more.

Any thoughts from you other poor suckers afflicted with knife buying addiction syndrome?

From one flipping addict to another I would suggest a ZT0456 and/or a Hinderer Half Track. The G10 and full ti Half Tracks flip equally well.

If you are dead set on that 3.5" blade then the Hinderer Harpoon Tanto Fatty and ZT0562CF would be my other option for you!

If I can help at all with pics or questions just let me know via PM or email (scott@usamadeblade.com)

Have fun on your shopping spree!

I've heard some people say they can flick their CRKs but I've never done that. You have to tune them away from the design intention which is fine (it's your knife!) but is not really the point of a CRK, if you know what I mean.

Been looking at Hinderers and struggling with finish. Is the working finish essentially a bead blast? Asking because while I like the look I find bead blasted blades the absolute easiest to mar. How easily does it scuff compared to the regular stonewashed?

Much easier. Go with stonewash.

Honestly I vote on hitting the Exchange. You can buy a Sebenza and a Hinderer gently used and have a little left. Take that and visit the custom maker fixed blades. We got some real talent on BF and I'm all for supporting them!
