Help......Need gun ideas

getcha a mossberg mvp patrol in .308. Can't argue with a scout rifle that takes AR-10 mags. The bolt is mediocre on it but it's pretty dang accurate and did I mention it takes AR-10 mags? So just saying, you could use AR-10 mags...20 rounds of .308 in a bolt action with a medium bull barrel and a low-mid power scope. Makes a hell of a designated marksman rifle.

If you don't have something in a "meaningful" calibre now is the time to do so, .375H&H, .458 Win (or Lott !!) 416 etc. My H&H is one of the most enjoyable rifles I own to take out for a hunt (no matter how small the game). There is something about launching a large lump of lead and copper downrange and being rolled back at the waist by recoil that never fails to entertain...!!!!

Performance center maybe?

:thumbup::thumbup: very nice!

I've said it before and I will say it again, threads like these make me realise I need to move to America

If you haven't already gotten one of the Sig "Forearm Braces" for an AR pistol, DO IT NOW!!! It comes with a letter from the ATF stating that it's legal. Almost too good to be true. Get it while you can.

That was my only motivation on building an AR pistol was the SB15.

However, it's been out for almost 2 years now, I doubt ATF will renege on it anytime soon, hell slidefire/bumpfires are still legal.

If you like the PPK style, another one to consider would be the Sig P232. I've had both, and due to reliability of the PPK not being great, I now only have a P232. My PPK was a newer Smith & Wesson make, and is heard the older German Walters are much more reliable. I also like that the P232 does not have a manual safety, but a negative is the mag release in the bottom of the grip took some training and time to get used to. Everything has pro's and con's, just throwing out another option for ya!

Rob that might be a little to high tech for us. LOL Those things can do some damage if you are not careful.

I've been seriously considering one of the new Mossberg MVP patrol rifles in .308
can get it with 16.5" heavy barrel w/flash hider, 18" varmint barrel w/6 position stock, or 22" standard contour barrel
best of all they can use M1A and magpull 20 round mags.

PMAGs wobble a lot in the 308 patrols. Haven't tried it with a M1A mag but since they're 2 completely different mags, I'm curious how Mossberg designed it to work with both.

Haven't tried it with a metal LR308 mag yet, I'll have to do that today

Got a few new toys on the way. I will post pics when they arrive. Still need to fill a few slots in the safe so if you guys have more ideas I am always listening.

don't know - I was told they can use magpul, dpms, and M1A/M14 mags.

Garth,

Get a Browning Hi Power pistol, in 9mm or 40 S&W - they are a pleasure to shoot, with a great grip design!

Tried a DPMS metal mag in one, fit great, also tried an Armalite AR-10 mag, no go on that one.

I should have an M1A coming in today, I'll give it a shot with one of those mags but if it didn't work with an AR-10 mag, I doubt the M1A would fit

I like the way you think on large caliber.....500 A-Square!!! Mr. Arpin was onto something when he started playing with these so I had to build one..:D
