Help with a trade

In fact that would wear them out. Diamond stones do not last forever. I think most of us know that....

The point I am attempting to make is that I didn't do that, and actually from Dmt themselves

"Uniform and precisely sized Monocrystalline Diamond is permanently bonded to nickel on a precision ground plate. Approximately two thirds of each crystal is embedded in the nickel with one third exposed. Because Diamonds are the hardest material known, the working abrasive points (top third of the diamond) will wear very slowly to give a long product life. Extremely pure, DMT® diamond crystals permit a single layer of diamond to perform for years. Competitors claims of multiple layers of diamond only indicate poor quality diamond that quickly wears."

I also provided pictures and clearly stated they were used:

No, Mike, I don't feel bad anymore. I asked you to correct the situation, you pleaded with me to leave 710 in your hands, pointing out for the first time, mind you, that you are a minor and the lack of money, somehow you have enough to buy Edge Pro, I gave you different options to do it. You refused. Why should I feel bad? The only thing I'd like to know - why did hide the fact that you're not allowed to enter the contract, being a minor?
BTW - you said stones were used COUPLE OF TIMES.
Well they were used HELL MORE THAN COUPLE OF TIMES.

Oh.... one more thing.... I'm gonna tell your daddy :D

I made no "pleading" as you claimed, I am not a minor, and while I may lack money, it's none of your business to question why I can buy an edge pro. And no they were not used more than a couple of times.

We're all quite familiar with DMT advertising. You ain't foolin' nobody. The goods are not satisfactory to the buyer, and that's all there is to it. In the US that's called the "perfect delivery" clause -- other countries might call it something different but they all have the same laws. You may consider yourself lucky if it's your parents who straighten you out and not law enforcement professionals.

Oh just their advertising? Might I enlighten you to some quotes from bladeforums a quick google site search reveals? (I will withhold names)

"Wow! You've worn out a diamond stone in only 5 knives? You do know that there is a break in period on those stones, and they don't begin to sharpen properly till you've done around 5-10 blades, don't you? How long have I been sharpening? Oh, around 45 to 50 years. Over that time I've used all kinds of stones, from the cheap hardware store double-sided things to diamond stones from EZ-Lap and DMT. So far, I like the diamond DMT's best. I have never worn one out to the point it no longer sharpens. Treat 'em well, clean them, and they should last a life time. I've never even heard of anyone wearing one out. Your experience, obviously, may be different than mine, or that of many others. Perhaps you should ask on the Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment board how many people have ever worn out a DMT. I would be interested in knowing. "

from: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=672432

"DMT stones do NOT wear out unless you bear down on them and damage them. I use DMT exclusively, they break-in/wear-in but they do not wear out.

I have even used a very cheap diamond stone to flatten waterstones for quite some time and it has not lost any of its effectivness.

When someone says that they wore out a diamond stone due to sharpening they either used way too much pressure and ripped out the diamonds or their just talking out their A$$. "

Same Thread

"The stones do wear in a bit as well, which IMO many people mistake for diamonds falling off. I have sharpened knives literally thousands of times in the last 10-15 years with a 2" fine, med and coarse DMT and the stones still work fine, even if they do not feel the same as they did new"

I like DMT Diasharp stones the best (continuous surface, not the perforated ones.) They're heavy-duty, don't wear away, and diamonds cut more efficiently. I would think that the only two you need if you use your knives a lot and don't care for an absolutely hair tree-topping edge are the XC (or XXC) and F (or EF).

I can keep going, but it's much easier to say Igor is Bs'ing.

Also something interesting to add, if he didn't like the stones once he saw them in person, why didn't he immediately ask for a reversal? First he USED them; who is to say that he is the one to lead to their "condition"?

Of cause it's easier to blame somebody else but yourself.
I wonder if it's ever been your fault, ever ever ever... Guess not.......

Not true Mike. I wrote to you right away:
I didn't like the overall condition of the stones.
You replied:
The stones cut very well and still leave a great polish; you should use them to see for yourself
I went ahead, tried them a wrote back to you:
I did try the stones - Fine, E. Fine and EE Fine on one of my kitchen knives(WÜSTHOF)
And, to be honest, to me it looks like stones were used way more than just couple of times.
I'm not going to speculate on that, I just don't want stones in that condition.

Also, please, keep you language clean.... It's in your best interest

Did you disregard the main point of the above post? It's not my fault that you don't know how to sharpen your knives properly. Its not a magical device that will create a flawless edge with no effort.

You seem to be mistaken, and I haven't used any language. Here is the order of the emails:

Hi Mike
I just received your parcel, thank you.
But I'd like to reverse the trade - I'm not satisfied with DMT condition.
Have you received 710 yet?
Thanks

I'm in california right now on a trip so I won't know for another 7 days, what is the problem with it? Have you used it?

I didn't like the overall condition of the stones.
Let me know when you get back
Thanks

followed by my: "The stones cut very well and still leave a great polish; you should use them to see for yourself"

I did try the stones - Fine, E. Fine and EE Fine on one of my kitchen knives(WÜSTHOF)

Which implied that you used them before you sent me the email (key word "did".)

Which implied that you used them before you sent me the email (key word "did".)
Just make it all more clear to you:
Short version
1) Mike, I don't like stones
2) Igor, try them
3) Mike, I did try the stones - no good
Where do I fail the logical chain?

Mike, the facts are still the same - you sent me a product that, upon"seeing in reality" I found inferior. That is all.

Yes, I tried them before letting you know that I tried them.
Where do you see the me fail the logic?

Igor, This is where the whole issue is stemming from; how are you judging them to be inferior? Against what? You stated before in an email that you found diamond stones sent to you by another member to be inferior.

I see you edited your post; first you say that you tried them before I said to use them, then after, which is it?

Mike, nowhere did I said or wrote that I tried them before getting in touch with you.
I edited my post because it was messy. English isn't my native language and when I see
mistakes in grammar - I correct them. Arguing isn't gonna change my dissatisfaction
with the trade. You can either make it right or not.

I'd like to just add that I'm extremely dissapointed in what happened in this thread. I'm shocked that you guys act this way considering the environment you try to uphold. You act like you know me, I may be the younger one here, but in this situation I believe I was certainly more mature than some posters here (not necessarily Igor).

Again, I'm sorry it went down this way, Igor. I'd appreciate it if you remove that negative feedback after you receive payment. I still hold my ground in saying that nothing is wrong with the aligner.

thanks.

Heiheit,

A deal is not final until both parties are happy.

What is so hard to understand here?

If benyaM95RangerKnif doesn't like the stones (for whatever reason) you are obligated send him the 710 and he'll return your Leatherman and the DMT aligner.

Very simple.

Well this went about like I thought. Our OP wasn't actually asking for advice he was looking for justification for his own poor behavior. He tried not one but two classic appeals to authority, i.e. Spark and this board as a whole. Both told him the same thing, that being that it doesn't matter what the specifics are if both parties of the deal aren't satisfied it's not a deal.

Again, trades just seem like a bad idea. You almost never know who/what is on the other end.

Payment was sent out.

Everyone needs to just calm down a bit. I realized what I did was unreasonable and offered to buy the aligner back as Igor didn't like it. It may have taken some time to realize it, but I now see that it was unfair. I don't appreciate the comments made about me, but I can understand why you think what you do. I think both parties are now satisfied and can move on with their lives.
