HEST/F by Lionsteel

I'm pretty sure they both follow the dimensions of the fixed versions - makes sense to me.

I'm sure DPx and Lionsteel will come out with some variants in time as RYP has already stated. I'm looking forward to the options as they pan out.

Just looking at the pictures, I get the impression that both the blades in the HEST/F and the Izula folders are a bit short compared to the handle.

I am glad i passed on this and I too am waiting on the Izula folder :)

Is this really gonna happen??

Not for a while. Probably not exactly like that picture.

I think they already said it wouldn't be a framelock, so definitely not like the picture.

(I read someone else saying they said that, so it's second hand information to me and third to you, reader, so keep that in mind :p.)

I took delivery of an LE DPX folder more out of curiosity than anything else and am happy to report that it's not bad at all. In the end it's not my cup of tea so I will be moving it on but I really think most people who get to handle one and like the style will be very happy with it. Despite all the hooplah that has gone the knife is well made and very solid.

My only con is the coated blade. I only use satin blades and much prefer them for looks as well.

Dang. Thats what I was worried about. Thanks for the info.

How does the "RYP" on the blade look? That seemed a bit much.

Right now Gianni is installing new equipment, hiring more topless production staff and getting all the materials lined up for the HEST/F and the new DPx HEAT.

By this I assume you mean they don't wear hats? If not then where can we see some video of the knives being produced? :)

I think the Izula folder, at least in the renderings, looks great. It'll be a toss up for me between that and the DPx HEAT, so I'll probably just get the one that comes out first. Which likely will be the HEAT.

"seems to be a ton of writing all over the knife."

that would be 2000 lbs. The knife only weighs 5.11 ozs.

Great pics of the Hest folder. I would buy one, (probably will at some point) but i am having too much fun right now using the heck out my HEST fixed blade right now.

RYP, good to see you back here!

Sorry I missed this before.

The MR DP model has graphics all over the blade, as I said the design really made me curious so I got one to check it out but just not my style. I prefer my sebbies :)

But it is a good knife none the less and lots of people will like it.

I got my production version of the Hest folder on Tuesday from Knife Center.

Overall I give the knife a huge thumbs up.

Mine is absolutely centered, no blade play whatsoever, it opens and locks up super tight and the rotolock is exactly as advertised. Also, whatever the 'tip' issue was with the LE's sure didn't happen with the production version.

The blade came very sharp out of the box (not even going to touch it up), and the G10 is super grippy, it definitely should not slip out of my hand.

I have two gripes with the knife - while it sits very deep in my pocket, the clip isn't super snug against my pocket like my ZT 0551 (which I have grown to really like). The other gripe is personal preference, I don't particularly care for the OD color of the G10. Would have preferred desert tan or some other color... but it (obviously) has no effect on the performance of the knife whatsoever.

I was expecting a helluva knife when I ordered it, and I received a helluva knife. Definitely not disappointed, and will try to purchase one of the LE's if I see them pop up for sale. Would love to have that in my collection.

Good job RYP & Lionsteel
