It's also an oddball because it's been pimped. So what I'm saying is the OP might be better served by reposting after his 14 days, don't give the knife's "life story" just state the condition, pimpage, excellent pics, and that the knife is under warranty. I think I have my best luck with brevity and let the pics do the talking. A good price doesn't hurt either.

I wouldn't use all of the he said she said language in my thread either. They probably spent a lttle more and got traditional Umnazaans with good pictures. I can't blame them. There's all kinds of tastes though and someone may be looking for just the knife you have. Good luck! ;)

Sorry but that was my first post for a sale... I'm still learning on stuff on bf and I was just trying to be as informative or specific as much as I possibly could. I mean I want the person who is purchasing the product the know the ins and outs of this particular knife. And what do you mean by ODD angles? I didn't know there were specific angles to take pics of a knife... to me a pic is a pic.... like I've said I'm still learning and any tips would be helpful honestly. Would be appreciated as well! :)

I wasn't criticizing you in a bad way. In English Composition class our Professor would have us write a paper and switch with other students. We would make notes on it. Oddly enough, the way something looked to us, looked bad to another eye and if you had an open mind, you'd see it immediately and be able to clean up your short story much better by implementing the changes they'd suggest. There was no malice in this exercise.

I wrote what I did to give my opinions to assist. Pictures can make or break a sale. They can lead to problems when the other party gets your knife and it reveals things that the picture didn't display because of angles and lighting. I think the you must show straight on (clear) side shots, blade shots, lock-up shots and centering shots.

Since you took all of yours off I can only show you my last sales thread that sold in a few minutes, like most of mine do. Easy description, good pics - it's simple.

Here's mine and you can decide if yours was not odd (pics) by comparison. Good luck with your new sales Sp!durrr :)

Most of us could see that your "first post for sale" was likely among one of your first. You did as good a job as many for it being your first time. We all get better with practice. Some people also are better photographers, writers, more experienced sellers from previous business dealings......which all lead up to different approaches and sales pitches on the "for sale" site. Your's wasn't in any need of criticism, as you obviously felt was happening, per your attached comments. "....casting doubts on his own product and volunteering stuff that needed not to be posted".....and....."It's an oddball because it's been pimped"..would make anyone think that he was being somewhat insulted, much less criticized. That entire post need not have been posted nor his recent post trying to "make nice" as he can obviously see that he insulted you and he can't have yet another incident tarnishing, if in his own mind, his stellar and exemplary reputation. cziv's recent response to you is an attempt to minimize his critique of your OP as can easily be seen by all of the fluff included in his wording and retreat from his own words posted to you ("English Comp. class, my opinions to assist, no malice in this exercise"......................."he who protests too much" fits cziv like a glove.

You did as good a job as many on your first sales attempt. Your post to inform us about 2 members who potentially could mess up our day by saying "I'll take it" and not then following through was also a thoughtful move on your part. Your sale went south because of the potential buyers and their actions, NOT because of your efforts in selling that item. You no doubt will learn and come across new sales techniques all on your own as you spend time here, the more sales and/or purchases, the faster you'll obviously learn. I can't remember seeing any other posts supposedly NOT "criticizing in a bad way" other members first attempts at a sale or their posts concerning situations which clearly called for such comments by a unhappy seller.

No need to apologize by saying you're "sorry" to cziv or anyone else. You did as fine a job with your posts as many here and better than some. You will find that you might change certain ways you approach future dealings here on BF, but that will come with more experience and feeling less concerned about that which you feel you need to apologize for. It is obvious that you would feel a lot more comfortable now and no less sure of your sales approach had cviz just stayed "out of your business".

You haven't done anything wrong nor uncalled for in any post......IMHO. You need not feel like you owe anyone an apology. There are, however, a few here that should feel the need to send an apology your way, whether you desire that or not. That they haven't already doesn't surprise me, but is very telling.

Magnumb what's your problem man? Both of my posts on this member's posts were in the same vein. Trying to help him clean up his sales threads. You are right - nobody owes me an apology but thanks would be nice. You are welcome to your opinions about me, but don't minimize the assistance that I've extended to the OP.

You've even split my two posts and made remarks from them into one example. You must be an awfully sensitive fellow if telling someone the unabashed truth, in a response to his problems which he's requesting info about, gets you all stirred up. Take a chill pill and understand that not everyone's methods, speech, writing may not conform to your standards.
 
Are we learning anything more from this thread, or just bashing each other?
I think we've all got the point. Closed.
