Hey guys,I used to be a Spyderco fan and have been left for two years. When I check back right now,I find there are some CQIs on Military Model. The most obvious change is the pivot screw.I just think the older pivot is more laconic though it seems that many folks prefer the newest one.
So could anyone explain the advantages of the total changes on the newest Military compared to the old version?Thank you all!
The pivot is now a bushing. You should be able to adjust pivot tension easier with less effect on blade centering.
It has a floating stop pin. This makes the adjustment of pivot tension the sole job of the pivot. I think it improves the action because the pivot and stop pin dont fight each other. It is just one less thing to adjust to get the pivot tension just right. I think it also keeps the scales more parallel.
The frame screws were all increased in size to T8 and they now thread into standoffs instead of an aluminum backspacer. I had issues with the aluminum spacer stripping out.
The lanyard hole was enlarged. Meh, I like the smaller hole and would prefer no hole. The larger hole allows you to accessorize the knife with 2oz copper beads on large braided paracord lanyards that can be used as a midevil weapon much like a morning star.
