Hey Sal!!! When?? Knifeworks Ti/Carbon Fiber/S90V Military

Mine is very smooth and still pretty tight. It is the lockbar tension pushing on the blade tang. If I push the bar over all the way the blade free falls. I dont have a need for this to happen, it is just is an indicator that the pivot is smooth and adjusted properly. The knife has cut and cut and cut and I have had to do very little for maintenance of the edge. Every now and then I will give it a few passes on the spyderco fine pocket stone and then stroppe the blade on the leather pocket that the stone came with. If that doesnt get hairs jumpingoff my arm, i will jump to themedium for a few passes then hit the fine and then stroppe and its razor sharp again. Other than a very small polished micro bevel, the edge still looks factory

I'm pretty stoked about an engraved KW Ti/CF millie that's on the way! Just hope it arrived on Friday and not Monday!

I returned mine for an exchange. The action was just too tight. I adjusted the pivot and used a little oil and it still seemed off.
I sent it back on the 2nd, and knifeworks.com shipped a replacement on the 4th. It arrived today and this action is much better.
It will freefall when the lockbar is disengaged. Its easy to spydie flick.
The blade centering was quite a bit off like 70/30, but a quick call to spyderco and with some guidance made some adjustments ant it looks closer to 55/45 now.
Action is still great and I really enjoy the smooth titanium and rough carbon fiber.
I'm starting to get what all the hype is for the military. Its huge, but somehow feels pretty good in the pocket. Its light, but feels very sturdy.

A quick call to Spyderco? What did they suggest? The action on mine is also pretty tight so I ended up with the centering being pretty far off.

They said to loosen both sides of the pivot and then push the blade over to center or maybe just a bit beyond. Then hold the blade there and tighten both sides of the pivot.
Mine had good actIon either way, but after I adjusted it, it was closer to center then before.
I adjusted it again and got it dead center. Now it doesnt free fall, but it still opens very easily.

Yours may be different because you started out with a tight action

I’ve tried that with mine...still tight.

I'd check into an exchange. This was a high dollar knife and I wanted mine with no issues. The action is super important and if its not where it needs to be, then I would want that resolved by knifeworks.com or Spyderco

Knife needs to break in. Mine was tight. Did not plan to tweak it but a poster said the pivots are not locktited so I went ahead try. The screws were indeed very easy to be loosened up. Now it is no longer as tight though not free fall yet (to make sure no blade play).

BTW, centering is very easy to adjust, just like what the above poster said.

I’d send it back. Mine was perfect with a little tweak of the pivot. It’s on Slysz Bowie level for sure now.

The action on mine isn’t great and the pivot is tight. I tried adjusting the centering but it did not work so I took it apart and found what looks like a burr at the pivot that is biting into the washer on the CF/presentation side
I have had it for about a week, should I contact Knifeworks or Golden?

Well spotted, but why not just remove the burr yourself? It should take less than a minute with a Sharpmaker stone.

I am considering it, the area around the burr looks a little warped, If I sand it down it would probably be fine but it might not

No - you should not return it to kw because you have taken it apart. If it bothers you, send it to Spyderco. To me, it is really not a problem and I see no need to tweak it. The knife will break in and smooth out by itself.

If it was me I would smooth off the burr myself. Put it back together and see whats up. You can also lightly polish the sides of the washers with 2000 grit wet or dry sandpaper

I think I might try grinding it down with the flat side of a medium sharp maker rod, it’s a decent little nubbin of steel with maybe 1mm prominence and 1mm in diameter

Probably have to deal with it yourself. When I had a question/problem I noticed taking apart my Caly 3.5 (the blade had made a single groove exactly matching the blade thickness in the female part of the pivot), this was the response:

The marks are not normal but taking the blade out (which does void the manufacture warranty) can cause thing to shift a bit and perhaps now the blade is not located exactly where it should be. I've never seen that happen before so I'm not really sure how to be of much help.

Thank you & have a great day.
