Hey Sal!!! When?? Knifeworks Ti/Carbon Fiber/S90V Military

Probably have to deal with it yourself. When I had a question/problem I noticed taking apart my Caly 3.5 (the blade had made a single groove exactly matching the blade thickness in the female part of the pivot), this was the response:

Hmm, I thought Spyderco's warranty policy was that disassembly did not void your warranty unless the disassembly caused damage. When were you told that by Charlynn?

Here's the relevant snippet of the current warranty:

"If a knife has been disassembled and reassembled correctly—so as to maintain its proper mechanical function—this warranty remains in full effect. However, if a knife has been disassembled and reassembled in such a way that, in Spyderco’s sole determination, the proper mechanical function of the knife has been compromised, it is no longer covered by warranty."

So disassembly is fine as long as you don't mess things up, but Spyderco decides whether or not your disassembly messed things up.

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering what percentage of people who purchased this Military will use it and who will have it for collecting.

Mine is and has been used, but it got me thinking of the price tag and materials used and what others are doing with this really awesome knife.

I have carried and used mine almost daily since I got it. The only time it hasnt been carried is when I want to rotate the 204P Military or spme of the standard versions in. I purchased two the day they were released. I knew this was going to be an ideal version of the Military and was going to use the heck out of it. I bought the second to have a back up. God forbid I lose my favorite knife for some reason and cant replace it! Maybe its some deep lying mental issue, but everything that I really like I have two of.

I rotate knives out all the time. But I indeed use it when I rotate it in. It's a perfect tool. Do wish it had elmax or m390 or Cruwear or m4 but s90v is a great slicer.

I wouldn’t let that go, sounds like uninformed response! Try calling when someone else is there. When a rep says things like “I haven’t seen this before” it’s usually a red flag for inexperience.

One for a user, 2 for collecting/backup or trading/gifting!

I admit to not having used it much so far, but that is only because my old S90V model covers my liking of S90V performance while my M390 frankenmillie has me covered on the CF/Ti-in hand goodness.

I have only had mine for a few weeks but it is user. If I am not willing to use it I don't buy it.

I have seven different version of the Military so it will get rotated in with the rest. I bought the Jade M4 at the same time and it has been hogging pocket time.

Hey guys,I used to be a Spyderco fan and have been left for two years. When I check back right now,I find there are some CQIs on Military Model. The most obvious change is the pivot screw.I just think the older pivot is more laconic though it seems that many folks prefer the newest one.
So could anyone explain the advantages of the total changes on the newest Military compared to the old version?Thank you all!

By the way,I have three options in the moment,CF-TIP S90V,CF 52100 and Grey G10 Cruwear. If there must be one out of the three, what's your recommendations?

I have the CF-TIP S90V and CF 52100
I like the frame lock (the model this thread is about) better between the two. That's just me though

Besides the obvious all 3! answer, I’d go with cruwear first, even though it’s not got cqi updates(mine hasn’t anyway). Second choice the s90v cf/tip. It’s got the updates. The pivot screw issue for pre cqi Millie’s is only a problem for titanium handles, where the blade tends to “wander” a bit without using red loctite. I don’t own the 52100, though.

I have all three and can’t tell you which to get if you only get one. There’s nothing “wrong” with pre-CQI Millies so if you think the Cruwear will fit your needs the best, then don’t hesitate just because of CQI. You won’t go wrong with any unless corrosion resistance is high on your list...the 52100 will corrode fairly easily if left unattended.

Well,I am in trouble now……
Is Green G10 CTS-204P version's fit and finish better than other versions?
And does Cruwear cut better than S90V?
I think my first choice might be 52100 as I would love to see some patinas on the blade.

They will all cut well and will have different results depending on what your use is.

Toughness (and get a patina faster)
1. 52100
2. Cruwear
3. S990V

Edge retention (and takes more time to sharpen)
1. S90V
2. Cruwear
3. 52100

I don’t have the 204P version. I do have 4 CQI versions and they all have great F&F.
