here's my clutch of 3:

Nice to see the HG55 getting some luv. One of the more underrated Busse knives in my opinion.

Garth

Yup, for instance-- at first glance the blocky handle some might think, "That thing looks uncomfortable!"

But you'd be DEAD WRONG!!!

It's one of those handles that's just right for me. It draws more intuitively and naturally out of the sheath than any knife I've ever owned. Being easily at hand is BIG TIME!!!

And that shape automatically indexes your grip foreward in correct position when you've laid it down and gotta pick it back up while concentrating on what's before you.

And like Nemesis stated, it chops better than you'd guess without experience!

Thanks for all the kind comments about my rig. Modding is one of my simple, therapeutic pleasures in life...:)

Let's keep it rolling, I know there's still some Hog Grade HOGS lurking in the bush!

This thread brought on a moment of weakness and inspired me to buy another HG-55....I had said my next would be a MIL overrun model but I haven't seen many of these for sale so I snagged it

Nice grab, Nemesis. Hard for me to lay off the 55's as well. I told myself the next would be an Overrun..but I would have jumped on that one too.

Just got done stripping this one..pre-polish. Is that a heat differential on this, or just wishful thinking?..

Does anyone know if they did a heat diff on any of these..never saw INFI w/ it.

 Nice!!

I'm really digging the satin/black FFG with the shortened jimping. I'm embarrassed to say what I'd do to get my hands on one of those.

Not to take anything away from the rest of those beauties.

One moved to Virginia, the rest of these are MINE!:thumbup:

P2P - Sweet job with that hg55 work.

EBP - I just noticed you have a FFG version as well. Love it.

This thread is gold. HG55 is one of my favorites for sure.

hmmmm....never personally heard of DHT on INFI and I don't see how it would be a cost/benefit advancement to an already well-balanced steel, but there's a lot more knowledgeable knuts here than me...have you reprofiled the edge? looks more acute than factory FWIS.

Same here..dont see why it would be on INFI. In person (overcast today,,no great photo skills here,,w/ out direct natural light, my pics are doomed) the line is very pronounced..both sides.

The edge was done before I owned it, previous owner acquired it already done as well..it is screaming sharp tho'.

Here is a better pic:

It is indeed.

Was wondering, what is the scale material is on the camo you just picked up Thought it looked like Blk G-10..kinda looks like mircata the close I stare at it.

Ickythump, it said g10 in the description so that's what I'm hoping it is and that's what it looks like to me. This may be the first busse I don't strip!

It certainly is handsome, no matter.

I had an Urban Camo w/ Blk/Tan G-10 I couldn't bring myself to strip..ended up selling it..(foolishly)

I purchased a Sage coated and what was described by the seller as Blk G-10..turned out to be a ..dark brown..? micarta..looked similar the the scales on the Camo you have inbound.

Pics when it arrives, please.

Photobucket is being slow in the field... But here's a few more of my new favorite!

This thing is built like a tank, and can chop like a beast, much better than I would have thought (cut through ~1" pine saplings in one good swing, ~3" in about three) it was used for various prying and such, as do most knives carried by Soldiers. It was used to help dig a hide sight and put to work getting veg on vehicles and on LP's. Hell, I drove the tip through an 1/8" or so sheet of metal during a storm (Bored Scouts do dumb things...) the metal has a new hole, and the HG55 shows no wear from it. I sharpened it to about 38 or inclusive on the work sharp, and have noticed no edge rolling or significant dulling from two weeks of fun and adventure.

The handle works perfectly on a reverse grip (I carry this on my off side, blade front on my kit), and it just feels like it was meant for that. Still, it's very comfortable and natural in a traditional grip, or choked down to chop with. Haven't done much fine work with it yet, but I look forward to getting a little crazy with it!

Niddhogg I think you will be equally impressed with it doing more fine work, they make feather sticks just fine and are EXCELLENT skinning knives. Great to see other people using and enjoying their HGs as I do.
