HG55 Appreciation Thread ***PIC HEAVY...ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!***

Trying out a 550 paracord d guard in olive drab. Took a few times to get the sizing where I wanted, but I like it for now. Still fits in the leather sheath like a glove.

That's a nice 55 ya have there...Military Overrun Knob Creek Special

Funny, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone weave a D-Guard for a 55 before...looks useful and purposeful...I especially like how it compacts and stows perfectly in the sheath ^^^ nested against the handle

Thank you Petey. This is my pride and joy in my small collection. First busse after 9 years of wanting one. I ordered a ws-621 same time but this came first. Supposedly the Knob Creek HG55 is one of 15 from the show?

The D guard is a 4 string width cobra weave. I started the weave from the talon hole and worked down to base of handle. It's extremely comfortable to weild now. It does hug the handle nicely when sheathed, which I love too.Give it a try, if you don't like it, just untie it! I'm excited to try this out in the field next month.

Dremel with the STAINLESS steel wire brush for the Dremel, it has a copper looking shaft. The pot metal ones will leave a patina behind on the INFI. Wear goggles or you'll get metal fragments in yer peepers!

Next hit the grooves with those little scotchbrite bonnets...be careful near the edge or you'll foul your edge and ruin your scotchbrite while you're at it.

Hand sanding and polishing with Mothers & Ren Wax is the last step I do to blend the ghost marks the Scotchbrite leaves behind. Probably an easier way exists, but this process works for me and I find it therapeutic.

Nuker Nuker , my apologies...I just saw your request tucked at the bottom of the "horse" thread. I overlooked it up until now. 🤷‍♂️

Here's my protocol. Nothing secret really....except maybe secret sauce of persistence. That, and not trying to do too much at one time and getting frustrated.

Keep coming back to it with the elbow grease. Magnifying glasses and good light.

Also, I've added a Magic Eraser to my stripper kit since this post.
