Himalayan Imports Picture Thread

Thanks magnum,

The tree that just gave up that piece of oak also gave up a nice new walking stick branch. My 9yr old daughter, (youngest of 3) wants a new stick to play with. That kid has her poop together. Anyway, a nice piece of oak, that the blade shaved the bark from. I was very impressed!

The 9yr old uses that swingset as her personel obstacle course. she is all over it. I've handed her the khuk a couple of times, she gets this big smile, and looks around for a suitable object. The really cool part is, she really gets a feel for the weight of the blade. Changing her grip to find the right balance point. She is itching to get into the woods.

That knife is just to big for her though. I may have to find a suitable blade for her. Yea...gotta get that past mom.

I have a feeling my oldest, she's 20, and a blackbelt, may be interested when I send her that pic.

Bought this after missing the one on the 2/16 DOTD. I was thinking about Bura and his family.

Wonderful object:)

Hopefully we won't get too many repeats where the bandwidth has been exceeded.

I think there is a paid membership that actually hosts the images here on BF.

Sarge Khadka CAK. 15 inches and 26 oz. Beautiful fullers and very comfortable handle on this one.

It's never easy to choose between these two.

If I still had my 15" Ballance by the Sgt, it would be impossible for me to choose.

How did I miss this thread for so long? I really need to get out and take some nice pics of my blades, I am feeling a HIKV relapse coming on. Here's a few I had on my web space from before, veterans may remember them but the recent fans may see something new.

First off is a Pen Knife that Ferrous Wheel etched and modified the buttcap for me. :D Knife is one of the first Pen Knives to arrive, by Bura.

Next is a one-off based on an M43, kinda with an AK blade. At the time I called it the M43-I (for Improved). I don't have Excel on this computer yet, so I can't pull up my inventory and see who it was by, I think Kumar. Great balance, my favorite nonstandard blade until we got into the YCSs.

Next is a Chiruwa AK by Sgt Kadka with a fantastic translucent horn handle. The pics do not do it justice, you can look deep into it and see flashes of green and others. The blade is fantastic too, I have been really iching to get one of those great Sgt Kadka blades that Yangdu has been selling lately.

Last and certainly not least is a bad pic of my four beauties, my YCS collection. Left two are from the YCS special buy we did a few years ago. The left one is osage orange wood, I believe the only one so made. Second from left is one of the few checkerboard ones from the first shipment. Fantastic handle work, all those inlays are perfectly moulded into the handle.

Second from right is one of two original chiruwa-YCS that showed up some time after normal YCS production had been stopped due to the thin blades problem in 2002ish. Seeing how cool these were, we did the special buy later in 2003 IIRC. We never did figure out what wood this is, it is very dark and dense.

Rightmost is my original YCS by Sanu. Dan Koster later worked this over to smooth out some ripples in the blade, and of course gave it a great convex edge and wood treatment. Along with some of Dan's kydex sheaths, this is my favorite "fancy" user.

My 20" AK by Kumar.

Hey everyone!

l'm new here.

l bought this beautiful monster blade a couple years ago and l'm very very pleased with it. lt's chopped and hacked everything l've put it up against.

l was window shopping for another kukri and thought l'd pop in and say hi.

All these great outdoor pictures you are posting have inspired me and I had to go outside and give it another try.

Here are two in chandan. An Ultimate Fighter (20", 48.6 oz, 5/8" spine) and an R-6 (8", 6.3 oz, 1/8" spine).

And the Ultimate Fighter by itself (almost):

The more l look at that, the more l love it.
