Hinderer Herd (Pets) Pics

Very beautiful, you've created a little piece of underwater paradise, well done ! Blenny is very lucky to have such great accommodations, hope he works hard for his room and board.

Can't believe how quickly you established that tank mapster, when I was a kid I worked in a tropical fish store, I'm amazed.... How many gallons an hour are you filtering?..... Very well done..... Looks like 70 plus pounds of living rock.....incredible! It's been what like two months? Really nice job!

Thanks guys! It's pretty simple actually when you have an understanding of what's needed to balance the cycle of a tank. I don't use any filtration other than a hang on the back protein skimmer. The back of the tank (28 g JBJ namocube pro) is a natural filtration system with live rock, macroalgaes, little critters and reverse lighting (lights on for the algae at night) which helps balance pH and CO2. Algae helps control nitrates. Test water params weekly and do 10% water changes twice a month. Add Ca, iodine, magnesium, and trace element mix twice a week, spot feed corals with a baster syringe, and basically fuss over the tank every day for half an hour... It might sound like a lot but I find it relaxing and very peaceful. Last week my anemone split into 2! Cycling a tank used to take 2 months. Now with something called Smart Start and 2 pounds of cured live rock per gallon and a 1/2" sand bed the cycling takes 48 hours!!!!!!!!

Love the saltwater aquariums! Someday I want to custom build a home and integrate one into a wall between a library/study and an in-home office.

Please excuse the collar, it's a mess and is no longer on him...he kept breaking the darn things and I rarely restrain him...it's chain-collar time...and not for looks, he's getting strong!

Funny.......... He doesn't L00K ...... Strong

Even better to ride in "stealth mode". Man, this pup love's attention and gets it from a lot of people. Funniest thing is guys are intimated by this little pup far more than the ladies...girls love this little guy.

The "Not Looking Strong" was tongue in cheek..... He looks like he could pull the Budweiser Wagon with the Horses riding it.

As Long as the Ladies like Him...... it's a Win/Win/Win :D

I know. If anyone on here can say whatever they want to/at me and it not trigger any negative thought it's you.

Btw..here's what the little guy thinks of it all....his "whatever" pose...

That is trully a "Talk to the Paw" look if ever there was one. Was He a rescue? (He was just a little guy when you got him I guess)
Pete does that look and He was a rescue, Mason doesn't.

Nope, not a rescue. Right place/right time for a pure Red.

I got him at 7 weeks old and now he's like 17ish and 37 lbs. Estimates have this large-pawed little guy topping naturally in the 70lb. range.

I do love that photo...it would make a cool avatar if I wasn't so fond of my current one.

Hey Maprik....I helped fund that great looking tank. Do I get any visitation rights!? Love seeing updated pictures.

N2K....beautiful pup! That 'whatever pose' is great.

Our German Shepherd Ellie is up to 7 months old now and and everyone's favorite around here. Here she is with one of her favorite family members....my youngest grand daughter.

Definitely a big help getting me started DW!!!!!! Thanks!!!! Stop by any time!!!!

Man, those tank shots are sweeeet. I used to keep 6 aquariums, all bare glass tanks w trophy imported freshwater discus fish, hinderer quality!! Ill post some awesome pics soon. Fish r no longer with me. I got hit by the plague, then our cities water source changed and i lost thousands of dollars worth of fish!! Dont let freshwater fool you, these fish were super high maintenence! I used to do DAILY 75% water changes on most tanks!! They were bare glass tanks painted white...this way no attention was taken off of the fish, besides thats how they were raised. such extreme water changes were needed because I was trying to grow these fish 2 adults (7-9 inches from tip to lip) feeding them premium homemade beefheart... A mix of super lean beef hearts, salmon, spirulina, multivitamins... All sorts of good stuff! I swear, half the time, the fish ate better than I did!

Holy crap!!! I knew that freshwater was more challenging than salt but holy crap!!!!!!!

See i always thought salt was harder, but not when it comes to trying to grow "the perfect discus". I really love your setup dude, bio filtration is the coolest stuff ever in my book. Keeping the bio heard happy is always key in any aspect of life. Microbes rule, translates right over to gardening with soil web rhizosphere microbes, fungi and bacteria...just as important as probiotic microbes and antibiotic inside us humans...without the beneficial microbes, life would not exist! Ppl take that stuff for granted. With all the Triclosan in our anti bacterial soaps and inside our bodies (in a major way) pretty soon the antibiotics will stop working...only a matter of time before...the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE they have been conditioning us for over the last few years!! ;)

Sorry guys!! Lol...but yeah man, amazing tank...how about a shot of the bio filter?? :)
