I use the tip of my thumb/nail almost perpendicular to the lockbar to release it, so a cutout on the g10 scale is really unnecessary.
 
Much like my beloved GB1, I consider that a safety consideration to avoid unintentional lock release when firm gripping it in hard use. Befits the character of an XM IMHO. But easily changeable if you wish, with only a $60 scale at risk.

Just ordered a Stonewashed 2019 filler tab :D from my number 1 favorite dealer!!!
Stayed with stonewashed instead of bronze or brass so I wouldn’t want to change all the other hardware.
Will see how that works out lol !
