So I’m thinking seriously about getting a 3.5 inch skinny slicer or sheepsfoot. I have a 3 inch slicer right now and I’m debating over which one to get. I’m curious about slicing ability of either the slicer or sheepsfoot. Does anybody have something to compare them to? Or maybe compare them to each other?

I have both the regular slicers and sheepsfoot and others ...

I also have each of the skinny no choil slicers and the skinny sheepsfoot ...

this is just my personal thoughts ... I believe the Hinderer Sheepsfoot blade is the best slicer they offer ... even side by side with the Slicer blades ...

it may have to do with the shape ... but they are both great knives and are thin enough blade stock to be awesome cutters ... but in my uses ... I give a slight nod to the sheepsfoot ...

in both the regular and the skinny models ...

both the Skinnys whether the Slicer or Sheepsfoot will shave a tomato after a good reprofiling to around 15 dps ...

so whichever appeals to you most ... they are pretty equal performance wise ... I lean slightly towards the sheepsfoot ... just my opinion.

I think the Slicer grind fits the XM handle really well in both the open and closed position. I mean this in terms of aesthetic "lines".

My 3.5 SkinnySlicer is still on the factory edge (hasn't ridden my Wicked Edge just yet) and it handled my lunchtime Granny Smith with aplomb yesterday.

I finally got an xm-18 3.5" skinny slicer. It definitely feels different in hand from the regular xm-18 3.5". Hard to say which one I prefer but one thing I know for sure is that I would not want a 3.5" any more skinnier than the current skinny slicer.

I actually think I'd like to see a Skinny blade in a standard XM handle. Might have to try a swap-mockup to see how it feels, but since my Skinny is my only Gen6, I doubt it would actually function.

Question for the guys with the 3.5 Skinnys.

What hardware works and what doesn't? I am thinking I would like to copper out my red skinny, but having a hard time figuring out which hardware would work. Is everything the same as the normal except for the spacers?

You can buy skinny copper standoffs from DLT, which I believe are the only ones available. You will then have to grind down the regular 3.5" copper nuts to fit the skinny. DLT mentioned that they should have more skinny specific hardware soon.
