Well, who knows, maybe some of the inducted Bladeforums basic members we never see around here are stealth-hogs, keeping their collection and their activities in the shadows. They may be known only to the Busse team, and may not be very active on the net. I trust Busse team to properly vett prospective Hogs, they know what it takes better than anyone. Plus I can't imagine they're at all worried about selling all these LEs. If anything, maybe they're caught in the Holiday spirit and want to extend the bounty and good cheer. I'm sure there's folks who may not consider me eligible yet since I've only been around 6 months and haven't got to Blade, so I'm not going to pass judgment on others. I know it seems to us that dedicated Porkers should be active on the forum, but I know from the bali scene that some of the biggest players have very small and subtle forum presences, if at all.

Balislinger, I appreciate your words. This thread really rubbed me wrong - Probably because I am one of the Brand Spankin' new HOGs around here, or a pseudo hog to some. I am also a basic member with an average of .02 posts per day. As you stated, there is a lot you can't tell from a forum presence. I suppose I could mention interactions I have had with the Busse crew years before others found and/or joined the forums. I could also make a huge deal over the decade of membership I have over other forum members. I don't make a habit of this because I learned at a young age that I don't have to look far to find someone bigger, stronger, smarter or someone with more toys. I also learned that distinguishing myself above others with whatever attributes they lack quickly results in an abundance of enemies and the absence of friends.

No Regrets. I have always interpreted that as going for those who get and those who don't. That goes for the zealot HOG with one hammered Busse user, and the equally pious HOG who sells his children for all the minty INFI he can find. No Regrets. It's a state of mind, and if you don't get that you're no hog.

As one final note, If someone is a basic member since 1998 and has only .02 posts per day, there is probably a very good reason for that - A reason you won't find posted on a forum.

Again, No Regrets, no ill will. If any of you get shoved out of my way in the future, I know nearly all of you understand what it means to be a hog. If I get trampled and bruised, it'll hurt, but I'll be happy for you when all is said and done.

I'm relatively new to the forum and to busse knives (I discovered them at the same time) and I only have 5 different models, so I am obviously no "HOG". Honestly, reading this post makes me not even want to become one. I love busse knives and really enjoy spending time on this forum (even though I only post occasionally) but I am starting to feel sort of unwelcome among some of you who have attained this cherished hoghood. It all seems kind of ridiculous to me that so many feel the need to prove themselves as true HOG's by stating their personal connections to Jerry, or by stating that a hog must have x number of Busse knives. It is nice to see the beautiful collections people have, and to be a part of this community, because we all love these knives...from those of us who are on our first to...Uncle J In fact, I am going to keep collecting and using busse knives and would love to meet the crew behind them, but as far as being a HOG...no thanks. For me it wouldn't mean anything.

I agree and disagree with gotta, i do think it would be amazing to be a HOG. but also there are many hogs out there that have 100 plus knives and collect. now nothing against that. and if that is your hobby then thats perfectly fine. everyone needs something. but to flame people who have been trying to become a hog and couldnt, like some who missed the hogash and couldnt go to any blades because of other responsibilities. that is no reason to flame them for taking the oppurtunity to become a HOG. and if you think Jerry and the crew didnt think about that when they offered this, then your sadly mistaken. They arn't going to just let anyone in, i trust them and so should you. i do feel for all of you HOGs who have been inducted and put through HOG hazing lol, but you have to remember guys these are tools, they are meant to be used. even the pretty ones were designed to work. Knives have been around forever and were one of the first tools we humans created. by that we are all HOGs, now there are the die hard HOGs and the piglets. and those will always be seperate. so who cares if some more people get inducted. i think its a great thing. our family gets even bigger and we can help the wenglings out. its a good thing because it grows out busse economy thus helping Jerry, and in return he can produce more of the best knives out there. so in the spirit of Christmas lets just all get along. (until thursday of course). but there really i no reason to get upset about things like this. there are way more important things in life than worrying about whos being inducted. lets just kick back relax and get prepared for the insane mouse clicking that is coming our way. i really hope i dont offend anyone here because im not trying to at all, and from one of the best movies ever Anchorman "im just throwing it out there, if you don't like it send it on back". Hope everyone is having a good week and you should be because an awesome blade is coming our way.

Actually the first round of iHOGS had to put forward a case as to why they thought they should be considered to be given the title of HOG,we did not simply have to ask.

wasn't there a nomination process? i remember nominating jaxx, old physics, and a few others, but not myself. someone else nominated me.

Life’s funny… One year ago I would have never dreamed of being a “Blogger”
or on a forum of any kind. As a matter of fact, this is the only forum I have EVER been a member of. In my case, It’s a generational thing. There were no computers when I was in high school or in college for that matter. I sort of have the e-mail thing down, but I haven’t sent 20 Texts in my life. I have only owned 2 cell phones. I have five kids and every one of them has a cell phone and a keyboard surgically implanted up there A**. My point is, not everyone is comfortable with this computer stuff. But I am slowly coming out of the dark ages and trying to BLEND at the Trough.

I think there is also an issue of equity in online hog inductions. I think if actual physical induction by meeting the man would doom many of the deserving hogs to UnHogdom sorrow.

A lot of us are PoorHogs. I have 4 pieces of Infi, Two of which were gained by a very painful parting from a sweet gun, because I had no income (full time law student living on loans, supporting a wife and kid). Now, I am a recent law school grad, making intern wages (hopefully this will change after bar exam success) and owing $170,000+ back in student loans (and before any one says hey, you will be a rich lawyer in no time, prosecutors in my state can start out as little as $35,000 a year). One of my friends had to work at the prosecutors office as a lawyer full time for almost a year with 0 pay and no benefits (and he was already a lawyer with experience and top secret clearance form an espionage trial).


My point with that story is that it will be a very long time till I can shake the man's hand, and I know that I am not in a unique position amongst many of the other Infi fans. I do think that there are people "Hogging up" to just get the deal, and they will be selling these beauts immediately on another site (Cough Cough E-cough-bay).

I did the online induction knowing I would not be able to take advantage of any hog discount offerings any time soon (this one does hurt though, because I absolute love the SNFO saber ground, and a hog edition le makes it even more awesome, not to mention that it will match my FBMLE which also has smoothed tiger mags!)

My hope is that a bunch of flippers will buy these, and the economy will force them to sell them to me at a loss later (and they can complain very loudly that they are selling them at cost, but that is not going to happen).

It would be nice to think that HOGs would just grab one for each hand to beat on,one for the safe and maybe one to sell at a later date.Buying a truck load to flog off at inflated prices to the unlucky is BS in my book,and yes i know that no one forces anyone to pay the prices,it is their decision alone.It is still BS.

See... That's kinda funny to me. When I first stumbled over Busse and caught the INFIddiction, HOGs became HOGs because the Bossman saw the true HOG spirit in those HE CHOSE to induct. When I went to BLADE 2007, I did NOT know that I was to be inducted, and neither did most or all of the inducted "class" of '07... You could not ASK to be a HOG. You were chosen & inducted, with a given name created by Jerry, Amy & the Crew. This was not so long ago, and for me it was a privilege... and yes, a sense of honor to belong to the same group as that bunch of great guys, HOGs to the last. I figured that it would be years before I was tapped... Regardless of how many Busse's I owned.



If you think about it, it's kinda like waiting outside an exclusive club to be let in, only to find after waiting, and then being let in, anyone & everyone could now enter without waiting...

...Now you, the first group of iHOGs are starting to see how this might feel to those who have been around, and I mean those who've been around much longer than myself when you all only had to ask to be a HOG.

Right or wrong, good or bad, accept them as we've accepted you, and they have accepted me. We are all HOGs now...

With a mind as sharp as Busse knife, wha a HOG!
