Hogue Deka Scale Options

Question for anyone who’s added the Blade Scales G10 scales - how’s your ABLE lock button now?

After swapping on these scales on mine, the AXIS button feels ‘gritty’ and doesn’t slide as smoothly as I remember with the original scales. I’ve got the pivot screw right at where the blade moves freely with no unwanted wobble; turning it any tighter seems to made the AXIS button worse. It’s not horrible - I can still unlock it easily enough, it’s just not as glassy smooth as it was before. I’m not completely sure, but it seems to be smoothing out the more I fidget with it. Other than that, opening and closing the blade feels fine. I’m wondering if maybe Blade Scales’ tolerances aren’t quite up to Hogue factory’s, and maybe there’s a little rubbing going on that will wear itself out in time.
 
I have not noted an issue or change, however, I did add a drop on nano 10 on each side where the ABLE lock sits flush with the liner. I find that help on the bugout/mini bugout as well. I will say i saw more of a change with scale swap on bugout to flytaniun crossfade g10 than on the deka.

Aww yeah - a little droplet of oil in there on each side smoothed it right out. 👍
 
Was anyone able to get the new OG scales for their deka? Pics installed?
Really wanted the MM1's but went OOS quick.

Just an FYI, I asked AWT if they had plans for the Deka and was told yes! Springtime if I remember right. I have 3 of their scales and have eyes on at least 2 more, 3 with the deka.
 
I saw the OG scales on YT and came here and picked up a deka with magnacut. Went to order the scales and they were all sold out. Rookie mistake. I emailed them and did their chat option. No response. Good to know that AWT is working on some!

I saw those too and started to hunt for a Deka. Those shark-tooth scales look pretty sweet. They were in stock at the time, I should have got them. Hopefully they restock. I have AWT scales for BM Grip and just ordered another set for Mini Grip (they finally came back in stock). I like my AWT so far but don't have much carry time to speak to long term wear. I'm still waiting for their Para 3 LW to come in stock.

The OG scales just came back in stock. Not sure for how long. Picked up the blue scales for my black deka wharny. Was going to go all black, but I feel like I have enough all black knives. Need some color!

They shipped fast too. I ordered some CF scales from Unlocked Composites two weeks ago and still waiting for them to ship.
 
Seems super strange to me that with the standard steel (20CV?) they make carbon fiber and G10 handles, which are both really nice, but then they release a Magnacut version and only put FRN handles on it, which suck. If I were going to buy one, I would go with the G10/20CV version over the FRN/Magnacut all day long.

I agree it is strange. It does look like they offer a marbled CF/Magnacut version. But I liked the option since I was able to get the Magnacut with OG customized scales, for cheaper than either.
 
Cost cutting is probably why. I always wanted a deka, didn't have anything magnacut either so two birds. Knew I was going to swap scales before i got he knife.

That would be cool - I have a full size and mini Griptilian with AWT scales. I'd like to see some custom milled ones.
 
Some very cool scales here. I dig my Deka, but it's the first gen, and there seem be zero options for it. Too bad.
 
I have a first gen too. I would get new scales if they were available. I like the knife, but not enough to buy a gen 2 just get new scales.
 
My mistake was buying gen 1, which had too many screws in it, rather than waiting for Hogue to fix it.
