Hogue Deka Scale Options

It was a mistake to buy a beta version of the knife that obviously had too any screws in it. I should have waited for gen 2. I'll go back to buying knives from Spyderco/BM/ZT and other companies that get their designs right from the start.

Sometimes, companies improve upon things. That's a step in the right direction, not a reason to punish them.

We’re up to what the delica 4? I wonder how mad the people that bought the delica 1-3 are? So this logic is severely flawed my friend. Most companies perform CQI, it’s not a bad thing.

Nobody knew they would change the knife..
Only reason to complain about the gen 1 is lack of AFTERMARKET scale support...

This is legit. The main thing that bugs me about Hogue is that they are so prolific in making aftermarket scales for different gun models but don't make them for their own knives.

Knives like the RSK only come with an extremely aggressive scale texture. Why not have a smooth option, or any other option at all? People were clamoring for options on the Deka. Why leave that business to other companies?

OK, let me rephrase it: I don't like the feel of the Deka handles, but there's no option for other scales. So I probably won't buy another Hogue knife.

Some very cool scales here. I dig my Deka, but it's the first gen, and there seem be zero options for it. Too bad.

Tonight in their FB group, Original Goat said they would be doing some G1 scales...

"We are working on even more options for the v2…and we also want to make sure those v1s aren’t feeling left out anymore!!
So keep an eye out for those email updates!"

Just put these on last week from Bladescales and I'm happy to say the knife is a lot better.

Has anyone tried an aftermarket bugout thumbstud on the deka? I have some on order from xxxadrinalinxxx, and am thinking of using the a blue one.

First of all offtopic but goat has aluminum scales for dekas now, i have 3 dekas with their scales and they are AMAZING. I have glow rhino thumbstuds, TiConnector is another store to checkout, as they make thumbstuds and standoffs for pretty much everything.

Sweet, looks like there's a couple different options on scale manufacturers for Deka scales now. Sounds like they've been listening!

Bob Denman Bob Denman I'd like to see those bone linen scales when you get em. Those sound sweet!
Votixedc.com has carbon fiber , he is in Australia and slow from what I hear but has
a good rep, Quality scales, I ordered mine the other day, I run carbon fiber on most of my stuff . Need to find the thumbstuds, got titanium screws thru etsy, lynchnw has the titanium clips and they are nice, need the thumbstuds and ready to make this blade perfect,

I have 2 hogue deka gen 2s, i love the knives but i do not like their stock scales, or any of the Damascus g10 scales, have struggled to find a reasonable aftermarket scale. Know of any?
Votixedc.com they have carbon fiber scales, out of Australia so it takes a while. Good rep from what i can find, ordered
Mine a few weeks ago. They are the only place I could find them,

How about a pic of them?

I actually like the Generation 1 better but it's nowhere near a deal breaker the Gen 2 is fine. I suppose the Gen 1 was dc'd long before anyone tooled up for making aftermarket scales for it. That is not a big deal as the Gen 1 came in a variety of different colors and schemes mostly in G10. It's nice to see a company is taking the trouble to make Gen 1 scales.

I ordered some the other day from him on ETSY, and I have all the time in the world to get them from down under... Estimated ETA is middle of September, or 3-4 weeks.
I've been on the fence about either the carbon fiber or the micarta... Very interested to get your first hand impressions of the carbon fiber once you get them!

It's here and the scales are well made and look good. I'll get pics in the next day or two.
