Hollywood - Knives worse enemy?

A hammer is a mean ass weapon, but up until it used as such it is a tool. The same goes for knives in my eyes.

Cars and trucks are an excellent tool for getting from point a to point b and they also happen to be a weapon that can kill dozens or hundreds of people.

What's wrong with a knife being veiwed as a weapon, as long as it's a defensive weapon? Sure, I carry knives as weapons. Don't use them as weapons, because I've never had the need to. But, just as my .38 snub nose revolver is a weapon to defend myself with, a knife can be as well. I like defensive weapons and have more than , I'll ever need just because I'm gonna defend myself if I have to.

Are some knives designed to be weapons? Absolutely. Just like some vehicles are designed to be weapons. But applying the weapon brand to all knives is like saying all vehicles are weapons. I chefs knife purpose is to cut food. A cars purpose is to take you places. Either can be a weapon.

Along with every other item that isn't a pillow. And even pillows are used as weapons to smother people!

Where I live, unfortunately it is illegal to carry anything for self defense. So if you tell a cop your knife is for self defense, it now becomes possession of a weapon.:(

Lol I crack myself up! I realize no one else finds me funny though haha. Although my kids think I'm funny.. damn I love them.

Well it's in oversized, red, underlined letters, so I guess you gotta agree.

Or even -- gasp -- as an offensive weapon when such a thing is appropriate, like a Special Service Force commando knifing a German sentry in the dark shadows of some Italian outpost?

One of the reasons that knives are such great tools is that SO MANY things need cutting. Sometimes that's a pie. Sometimes it's a feral hog. Judging by my life, it's mostly cutting open the packaging of other knives. Occasionally, it's a person. Pretending otherwise is just dumb.

It strikes me that "Hollywood" is actually pretty knife neutral. They don't go out of their way to show knives in a particularly unnatural or violent way. They show everything in an unnatural and violent way.

I know that in USA this kind of comerce is free.
Here we have laws to regulate gun trade. Not blade at all, not yet, but I do not doubt that we will have soon the way things are going.
But blades when not used as a tool, if it was the case can be considered a weapon to attack or defense.
Defending your own life is something inherent, it’s a instinct. Nobody can take it from you.
The fact is that the disarmament statute occurred in 2005 and then crime (every sort of) only increased. But this is another subject.
I just do not think it's fair that an opinion-making media sits on one side or be biased trying with arguments and not with facts to transform public opinion.

Edit: I don’t like war, fighting, violence idea, but it’s on the world.
You can injury (to not say kill) any live being with just a punch on the right body place.
